If Edmonton doesn't obliterate this so called hockey team from Florida then there's a (frank)ing problem with this team. The kids and Smytty better be prepared to hit and have an aggressive fore-check tonight. Also better be prepared to pour salt into the wound.
Also I see we are going into this game with 6 defencemen since Shultz and Belov are out. Why didn't we bring up another guy for just incase.

They're having troubles scoring, Eberle with Eriksson > Lucic with Eriksson.
Hey you wanna trade me Gallagher and Monahan for Eriksson (+)??? - LeftCoaster
Lucic is just too valuable for them in the playoffs IMO, even when he's not scoring he wears out the opposing defensmen. He's not really part of the scoring problem 6 goals and 6 assists in 13 games is hardly a bad start. |

Oh I knew I was spelling it so wrong! Thanks for fixing it for me. I just didn't want to put in the effort to google it
I find in Boston that it's the unsung guys that really make their team who they are. You're right with those 3 pests being the center-stage for the team, but their entire back-end and especially lines 3 and Bergeron make the team the best! - ChetManly
I was pissed when Kelly was traded to the Bruins for a mere 2nd round pick.
Let alone giving up a 2nd for him, since Boston won the pick was closer to a 3rd round pick which I would have gladly given for a guy like that. |

Maybe we trade our 1st + something for their 1st + Paille (+?) - Morris
That could be a lottery pick.
Paille is one of those bottom 6'ers that can really put ur team over the top in a league with so much parity. But i dont think we're that close to the stage where we're on the cusp. Or at least i haven seen it yet.
Paille does not possess the star quality coming back as the main piece that ur looking for if ur gambling moving a #2 overall pick.
A dougie hamilton maybe. |

yeah, but in principle a trade that saw us recouping a 1st could allow us to open up our own first to being traded.
I agree with you it's likely an overpay though. I just think that if we're looking for forwards, industrious complementary guys are who we should be looking for. We need a Brouwer style success story. |

That team is amazing. Chiarelli built a beauty. And he dealt away kessel too.
Bergeron is sooooo good.
Kelly can do everything
Paille
Even thornton
Chara is the most dominant dman in the game when healthy. But we forget about seidenberg who might the most underrated player in the world. Boychuk is a beast.
Krug has tons of skill
The difference between that squad and ours is light years |

Drafted Bergeron 45th, got Kelly for a late 2nd, Paille (former 1st) for a 3rd and conditional 4th, thornton for peanuts, Landed the big fish in Chara, traded junk for Seidenberg and Bartkowski, won a hockey trade for Boychuk by dealing Hendricks and nabbed a sought after College guy in Krug.
Not a single miststep there. |

It's starting to anger me sitting here thinking about it.
How the eff did chiarelli build that all around beast of a team, while im stuck with our bumbling idiots in the front office that cant even put together a playoff team in 7 years?
Year 4 of the teardown and we're still in the hunt for first overall?

No doubt, he's a hell of a GM. Boston's pro scouts must be pretty good as well. |

If you think about it, the best move in Tambs' tenure was one of the following:
- Picked up Ryan Jones off of waivers
- Traded Dustin Penner for Klefbom, Zharkov and Colten Who?bert
- Traded junk for an overpaid Ryan Smyth
- Was the GM when Schultz signed
None of those four moves are particularly impressive, let alone good enough to outweigh the bad moves, let alone good enough to outweigh the bad team performance. |

Lowe's not much better either. The Pronger trade was unfortunate, but it gave us the tools to continue on and be successful sooner.
Eberle and Smid still play with us.
But we also received a 2007 1st, a 2008 2nd and Joffrey Lupul though, which we did nothing with.
We traded the 1st along with a 2nd to move up and take Riley Nash, which eventually became the 2nd used to take Martin Marincin.
We traded the 2008 2nd for Alan Rourke and a 3rd and used that 3rd to compensate Anaheim in the Penner offer sheet.
Lupul along with Smith became Pitkanen, Sanderson and a 3rd (Cameron Abney).
Pitkanen became Cole and Cole + 5th became O'Sullivan and a 2nd (which we flipped for 13 games of Ales Kotalik).
O'Sullivan became Jim Vandermeer. |
