People need to stop mentioning Arcobello in trade scenarios, he is the David Desharnais of the Oilers...only worse. He arguably shouldn't be on the Oilers, who are currently riddled with injuries and in the basement. No NHL team would have Arco at even 5 on their depth chart...more like7th or 8th.

This experiment should be over by now.

haha, I am very happy to be wrong about Arco last night, great job!

Oilers take on the Panthers in Florida. Oilers management has been spotted in New York, is a trade on the horizon?

- Matt_Henderson

And if you think you're going to get say McDonaugh, a top prospect & a pick for Yak, you're on glue!!

I don't care if he was taken 1st overall or not, the kid hasn't proven anything yet while anyone of those 3 blueliners has, MDZ to a lesser degree but if McDonaugh is your choice, you'll get him straight up or not at all.

Yep, but we don't want to grossly overpay.

Dumb comment. People on this website are not talking about you. You didn't start training for your job at 4yrs old, then work mornings before school, weekends, hours and hours and miles and miles of driving to and from the rink, then be the cream of the crop at 13, then at 15, then at 17... Did you receive phone calls at 9pm on weekends to make sure you were home when you were a teenager? They did. Do millions of people watch you at work every day on television, then dissect and analyse every move and decision you made while on the job? Do people jam into a 20,000seat venue to watch you work? Has anyone ever asked you to hold up a box of cereal just so they could take your picture beside it because young kids will buy more of it? Is your career length only 5or6 years long on average?

sorry, but I really hate this comment, it is so naïve and jealous.

I don't. At all. Did I say we need one of them? They would be obvious upgrades over the guys u mentioned but far too expensive. I think 4 of our top 6 skill guys have enough talent to succeed with any of the guys you mentioned, and would be in favour of that. Let's say we get a LW and a RW that fit those profiles. What happens to Yak and Perron? Play em on the 3rd line?
- Jeropotato

Sure, sounds like it could become a sick, cup competitive top 9. Three lines we can roll situationally, like many of the good teams (LA often has Kopitar, Richards/Carter and Brown on three different lines!)

I envision

Hall-Gagner-Yakupov
Defensive Tough winger - Nuge - Ebs
Perron - Gordon - Defensive Specialist
Joensuu - PKing Tough guy - Pitlick

in the go-ahead. Maybe even flip Yak and the 3rd line

What's going on? I sort of agree with you.

From my perspective, McDonagh is head and shoulders above their other 3 guys. Staal and Girardi are closer to him than MDZ, but neither wants to be in Edmonton.

McDonagh probably isn't leaving NY but if the Oilers don't get him in a Yakupov deal, they'll have traded Yaks away too hastily.

I recognize that we're not getting McDonagh + for Yaks - at this exact moment it might be Yak + for McDonagh.

You know he won't be in the discussion for rookie of the year. He will be overlooked and brushed off.
- Reveen

If this keeps up it may be time to trade him Conacher style for the young goalie we need.

Yes Goalie is a must, that shot on Dubnyk to tied the game is a shot he needs to stop and don't blame the D or forwards, there was no reason to go to overtiime,MacT will get another Goalie,He doesn't trust Dubnyk.
- AlEx_OiL

100%

I am so sick and tired of Dubnyk and I am sure his teammates are too. Fight and skate for every inch for 59 minutes only to watch Dubnyk waste it all...what an absolute loser. I'm not using that term loosely either...Dubnyk is a "LOSER", it's what he does.

"but he made 3or4 huge stops during the game" GOOD, he's supposed to do that ALL GAME! No one can defend him anymore, he has to go.

Yeah, the dumbest move the Habs ever made which is why that GM is no longer around.

Could you imagine him still here patrolling the line with PK? (Higgins would probably crack the roster too). Anyway, I defended the Gomez idea at the time of the trade so I am also guilty. I was just being a smartass!

Man I was pissed when that trade went down. You sometimes have to wonder what the hell GM's are thinking when they make such bad deals like that one.

Also, THIS.

Dubnyk is garbage. Anyone remember the Deslauriers vs Dubnyk days? Yeah, me neither. Total garbage. Sign a real goalie, and for the love of Christ, draft one for the future.

They had Fucale drop right into their laps in the 2nd round & instead traded down to acquire more picks - what an idiotic move.

There are naysayers about Fucale but tons of scouts feel he's going to be a #1 goalie in the NHL & should have been a 1st round pick but the Habs take him in the 2nd & there's no rush with Price in town right now. He will get groomed the right way especially under Bergevin.

I'm not sure why MacGregor & company didn't like Fucale but they blew it when they passed on him.

LMAO - how many picks did you have in the 2nd round?? You could have had him, your lousy scouts chose not to take him.

Shut up. You're an idiot. If Edmonton had kept the 37th pick, it wouldn't have mattered. Fucale was drafted at 36th. How can you draft a guy that has already been drafted?

Seriously, you're an idiot. Why do you bother talking?

I think Oilers management may be a little spooked to invest so much time and high draft picks in goalies again.

We drafted Dubnyk 14th and Deslauriers 31st. 10 years later, instead of having a 27 year old #1 and 29 year-old 1a goalie as their pedigree might have suggested, they've got a guy who at best has his confidence completely shot.

Steps to drafting goalies

1. 6'1+
2. Ridiculously athletic
3. Finnish
4. Finnish
5. Some kind of Northern hemisphere country
6. Nobody has ever heard of him
7. Superstar

At the time Fucale was drafted, we had the 37th and the 56th. I wouldn't trade a late 2nd to move up one spot.

Considering our 37th became the 83rd, 88th, 94th, 96th and 113th picks, we'll keep tabs on whether Fucale outperforms Yakimov, Slepyshev, Houck, Platzer and Muir together. Assuming we'd have had to have traded the 56th to move up one spot, add Marco Roy to that list.

I'm not trolling by the way, I'm dead serious. I like Fucale a lot and have seem him lots. Likely more than anyone else here. They went a different direction from nabbing the impact player. I've got mixed feelings but I think it's too early to tell.
