Not only is Wideman untradeable, but there is no way in hell we'd trade for that contract after not signing him for less. - Blackstrom2
No idea why people dump on Wideman...probably just jealous they lost him
he's tied for 6th in scoring amongst d-men
and logs 28+ minutes a game, second only to Ryan Suter while keeping a plus 4
the guy has come a long way and is a stud. He's untradeable...but not in the sense you're talking about

Well said
sometimes I wonder if Ek even knows what players are in Calgary ....I'm beginning to wonder if he knows a single player on our team since Iginla left
asking him to figure out their salaries is next level stuff (even though it can be found on his own website) - cpltanto
Being in the west, it is easier to see the games in the east, half the time the eastern media has no idea what is going on in the west. 3 hours time difference is huge.
The west is judged often by rumor and reputation. At least with the new schedule format, fans and the league can't help but be exposed to more players from across the league.
Ya hear about the star power in the East, I acknowledge they have some big names but wonder if the west is getting its fair due. Top 30 in points this season is reasonable balanced between east and west players... no definitive comparison is possible, but just saying. |

LOL that's what I was thinking. Vancouver in my mind only really needs some depth scoring and perhaps some sandpaper to be a serious cup contender. Makes no sense to juggle the makeup of the team so drastically. - TomKlassen
Vancouvers scoring is only 2 goals behind the top team in the East. That is with a crippled PP. I think they are fine

Totally ok. Think of it this way.... you already know 10x more than Ek. (And judging by your posts in the past, most likely know him as well as Canuck posters do) |

Torts loves Stepan, Girardi and to some extent Staal. On the Ranger side forget Mc D or Kreider, the fans would revolt. Besides that, both Kreider and Torts would sign a joint suicide pact if they were reunited! Edmonton is the better partner anyway except for the coaches having exchanged places. |

Rags prob tried to sell avs on MDZ as well. If they are shopping him, it wouldn't be odd to talk to multiple teams

no way this happens , canucks need a second line sniper, not a 5th d man, unless they send a dman back...
edler, hamhuis, bieska, garrison, del zotto? na, too much for a #5 even if one got bumped |

Ek's rumour about the Canucks is more than ridiculous, it is as one person I know might say, ridicaluss. Seriously, the guy I know says it like that, which to me has become the way to say ridiculous to the power of 4+...
I've said it many times Ek has no western sources who know anything about Vancouver. All that happens on here is that Ek regurgitated whatever his eastern sources tell him. Btw, Dreger sucks.that's another guy who doesn't know shiite about the Canucks, but sticks his nose where it doesn't belong and seemingly makes up stuff about the team to preserve his job. |

He was on our team before he signed with the Flames. If management saw him as a valuable top-4 d-man, they would have re-signed him then. |

If this deal gets done, the Canucks aren't going to move Burrows or Kesler for Del Zotto. I'm thinking, that if this deal happens, it will be Higgins for Del Zotto.
I said it here first!
I don't think this is a great deal for the Canucks as their defensive depth is strong enough. With Del Zotto in the lineup, either Tanev or Stanton loses their spot. Alberts will be riding the press box or in Utica, and Corrado will get his chance in two years. |

I would hate for it to be Hansen, I know AV liked him a lot as well. |

Burrows value is not hard to trade.
If he was available, there would be many interested parties. |

are you saying that players don't change, improve or regress?
there are signings that GMs will regret because a player regresses, and the ones that get away that end up being a regret because they improve or find their complete game
I'm not saying your team regrets letting Wideman go, every team has different needs. But you're being biased if you really think that Wideman is washed up or "untradeable" is all I'm saying
He's clearly living up to his contract more than JayBo ever did (and Jaybo did a decent job in the last 2 years with us) |

You realize he made the all-star team the year he played for you guys right? I'm sorry, i can't remember the last time an all-star player was deemed un-tradeable. The only reason they traded him is because he wanted a long term big money contract and they couldn't afford it. He got at least market value and has lived up to his contract. So… thanks! |

this is the dream scenario of course, but mcdonagh is young and their best guy. yaks doesnt get u mcdonagh even straight up.
with the chance of staal leaving, I cant see a scenario where they let mcdonagh go.
if I felt like I had a shot at resigning staal, id chase a deal with yaks ++ for staal and kreider - hugefemale dog77
I know Mcdonagh is good but he is not worth a guaranteed future 30 goal scorer, possible 40+ goal scorer that was a 1st overall pick less than 2 years ago. If the Rangers would want Yakupov+ for McDonagh then Edmonton should laugh, hang up the phone and try somewhere else. |

Only a Toronto GM would send a 1st rounder for a slightly better version of chris campoli.
Upside is, Shaia LeBeouf can play either in the near future CBC made-for-tv-movie, I used to be an nhl defenseman. - jmo16
?
When was the last time the leafs traded a 1st for a PMD? Brian Leetch back in 2004?
one of the dumber comments I've seen on these boards
Edit: Just noticed this guy is a fan of a team who gave up an additional first and second to acquire a player who might not even equal the goals or point totals of the guy they traded (Moulson 8 goals, 15 pts in 15 gms/ Vanek 5 goals, 12 points in 17 games) |

Why would the Canucks trade a forward for a d-man when they need more offensive depth and they have been happy with their D??? This makes no sense at all. - Canuckleafer

I meant hard for the Canucks to trade as in he is for too valuable for the Canucks to move in comparison to what other teams would offer |

I think they spent too much time with Burke, he seems to be able to lull the other GM's into a false sense of security then take their best players out from underneath them for spare parts… case and point, the Phaneuf trade… Good thing he's with Calgary now Giroux for Butler? |
