As I look at that top six, I'm thinking, that's a pretty decent line-up! This boils down to confidence IMO. These guys need to get that back and they'll start to win some games on a regular basis.

Jeeze, now the flyers are causing virtual rioting in their message boards.. this wouldn't be happening if they were winning.

Edit: I think that under Laviolette's system, the team could score more goals because of the offense first system.. with a defensive minded coach and a less aggressive forecheck, the weaknesses might start to reveal themselves.

i heard some bans were handed out the other night. maybe that's why it's so quiet around here. or maybe the flyers are so embarrassing they're slowly killing the fan base.

This stretch of NJ, Car, Edm, and NJ could be just games needed for Philly to get back into this season.

flyers are in a weak division and have time to turn it around

Seriously tho, its much more lively in here after a loss than a win

Hard to have team confindence when your captain is struggling. To me, it starts and ends with Giroux needing to be better and needing to set the tone.
- Trainfellow

Yes G needs to be better, but so does Jake, Hartsy, Simmer, Kimmo, Streit, etc. In 2005-2006 when Forsberg didn't have a goal in 8 games, most were not saying the same things about him as they do about G. Why? Because they were still winning games. Last time I checked hockey is a team game, and the "C" poop is way overblown.

It's not even just about the C, it's about needing our best player to be... well, our best player! You're right though, that he's not the only one who needs to get it together. All these guys have to get their poop together if the Flyers want to be even remotely competitive.

I'm not Bill, but I'll respond anyway

I think the best thing they can do is stay patient. Lets see how they do over their next 10-12 games. IF they are still struggling at that point, it will quickly become apparent that they are not making the playoffs. At that point, its time to see which vets will be willing to waive NTC/NMCs and time to start dealing for picks and prospects. IF that is the case however, it is most likely best to wait til the trade deadline to make most of those moves, you want the other team to be as desperate as possible to upgrade before you make a deal.

- BiggE

I'm going to go in a different direction. I'll give them the next 3 games. If they dont win convincingly against there other basement dwellers, then I make moves now.

Reason being. I hope there is a team struggling that thinks they are 1 piece away from competeing. If they still fall short, then you have a higher draft pick then what you have coming from a playoff team at the TDL.

But if I was GM, I would be making a move for Yakupov and a Number 1 D-man. Whether its Buff, Campbell, Phaneuf, or J-Bow.

It seems like a lot of people are pegging Giroux's slow start on something mental, but to me it looks like there is something physically wrong with him. He just doesn't look like the same player, his shot along with everything else look to be at half speed.

That because Crosby amputated each hand at the wrist.

Yes, Yakupov would be a great fit here, just like all the other Russian players that have graced the Flyers ice surface.
