Why not---he was brought up as a short term solution and wasn't that bad. Put a large winger with him and that should help. That doesn't work, then let's get another centre, but a bigger one, if possible. Gags was the subject of tons of rumours last year but he does have trade value. We have to give up something good to get an asset in return.
I'd like to see a big, vet winger with at least 5 years NHL experience on the top 2 lines. Not someone older than say 32.
Teams do like their big wingers, but elite offensive guys don't grow on trees. So, we've got an excess of offensive guys that we should be able to parley into wingers, D & a starter G.

Our forwards could be amazing with mere tinkering.

Need to find players that are gritty defensive players first, but can play up to the quality of their linemates.

MacT could acquire Ott, Winnik and Abdelkader by the end of the week without giving up anything of real importance. Those three give a lot more fire, a lot more defensive acumen, and can each play well with skilled linemates. It's only hard if they're not willing to pull the trigger.

I think that we should try to get Brad Marchand. I think he has the energy to get the team rolling. Plus he has a bigger target on his back than the young guns. Than trade for some bruiser like Wayne Simmonds to defend him a bit. Throw Gagne In between them on the second or maybe throw Marchand on the third with Perron, Move Yak to the first with Nuge and Hall. And play Eberle Gagne and simmonds on the second. I mean we would probably have to give up one of Eberle or Yak But i think Hemsky and a pick could bring in one of them, and a pakage of picks and prospects could get the other.

a couple nuck fans, couple hab fans and a leafer in the group, so battles always ensue over drinks. when the red wings game came up briefly, they just looked like they felt sorry for me.

im on the side where we shouldn't just make small moves cause "its too late".

Marchand would have much less energy and antagonizing power if he was the primary antagonist.

Tons of big tough guys to protect him on Boston and there's no one for him to hide behind here.
