Everyone know how I feel about this one....

Our forwards could be amazing with mere tinkering.

Need to find players that are gritty defensive players first, but can play up to the quality of their linemates.

MacT could acquire Ott, Winnik and Abdelkader by the end of the week without giving up anything of real importance. Those three give a lot more fire, a lot more defensive acumen, and can each play well with skilled linemates. It's only hard if they're not willing to pull the trigger.

- Morris

I would really like to Acquire Pat Maroon and Winnik

Doresset would be a solid 4th liner that can play on the pk as well.

Anyone that cant see that Hall IS this team is blind. He is the only guy we have that drives the play, keeps other teams on their heels and is a threat everytime on the ice.

GMing is no where near as easy as guys on here make it out to be.

These guys are constantly enquiring about all of these guys. They talk to other gm's daily. Detroit has said they think Abdlekader and Helm are critically important to their team. Ott is highly sought after and that's IF Buffalo decides he is available.

There are very few teams out there right now looking to make "hockey trades". Everyone is expecting an overpayment if they have guys they are willing to part with. And teams with guys we would want have many other buyers for those same players should they decide to make them available.

Like it or not, other GM's are not going to "help us out" by giving us guys we want.

Sure Maroon's another great one.

Does anybody actually believe it'd take more than 3rd, 4th picks (maybe a 2nd or two for Ott), Musil, Lander type prospects and maybe a guy like Jones or Eager to get some big bodies who can play defense?

I think Maroon and Ott would cost the most.

That's the kind of forwards they need. But the defense is sooooo bad. They will need to trade at least one of the young studs to bring a stud in.

I shouldn't have insinuated it was easy.

What I mean to say is this: we don't need to acquire Lucic. It's not like the trades we need are giant, once-in-a-generation trades. We need reliable crash and bang players, and the cost is likely going to be mid picks, mid prospects, and mid roster players.

I'm not saying it's easy to be a GM, I'm saying the kind of trades MacT needs to "orchestrate" would be among the easiest he'd ever have to make.

We do need 1 large, fast winger with EACH of the first 2 lines. They'd create more room for the skill guys, work the corners and go to the net.Would love to get a Bickel type; could do with a Ward or Brouwer also. I'd prefer to trade Yak and Gags to start the next phase of the "re-build" as the first phase was done wrong. couldn't Yak bring us back a goalie and big winger, at least?

Sorry it was your post I responded to and wasn't necessarily implying you specifically think its easy to do but there seems to be many on here that think this should just "happen" because they want it to.

These teams have files on all players and have depth profiles at each position on the team and plans and contingencies and so on. This is extremely difficult to do.

And those crash and bang players are highly sought after. Teams that have them, don't give them up easily. Sometimes when they have a contract up and are looking for too much but other than that its really difficult.

Okat just a question,if Florida beats the Oil bad like another 3-0 or 4-0 score,do you guys believe MacT makes a trade after the Game?and btw doesn't have to be a bad score like the one I mention I think it will be just as bad to lose a game to Florida even if the score is 3-2.

Well I fully support looking at upcoming UFAs. I think the risk of shelling out a bit for an expiring contract and working to re-sign them could be outweighed by the benefit of a) having a headstart on UFAs given we're not necessarily destination numero uno for a lot of guys and b) the actual cost of getting them re-signed.

This sounds generally meaningless, but there are lots of guys like Bickell or Brouwer or Ward that kind of came out of nowhere and were pleasant surprises. That's generally what we need: A guy we know can play defense and hang tough, but maybe who hasn't shown that much offensively yet. Stick one of those types with Nuge and Eberle, hopefully you could tease a little offense out of him. I think that's the reasoning MacT had with Joensuu and Eakins had with Pitlick, and I'm interested to see where it goes.

Ottawa maybe at their wits end with Greening, but I think he may have some game left. Worth a look imo if the price is right.

When Jf and Stortini were here I wanted them to fight in practice. which ever one lost, then would be waived. Prolly be a hell of a tilt
- Killbot460

haha that's what training camp(s) used to be like.

I heard recently that back in the 80's Kevin McCelland would try and fight/ battle every agitator or fighter coming into camp.

Dallas Eakins said his team was afraid to lose. I disagree, they're just afraid to engage physically.

I think right now yeah it would take more or it would be done.

These teams may be asking for Klefbom...who knows.

And in that case, would you deal Klefbom + another prospect for Winnik, Ott, Abdelkator type guys?
