What a POS move that was by Emery. What if Holtby got hurt from this, and he didnt even want to fight. What a joke the Flyers are becoming

We can't all have Kaberle hold down Adam Burt while we hit him and then hide behind Kaberle when Luke Richardson comes over to fight us.

That's 'Sugar' Ray Emery. Credit to Kerry Fraser.

I agree with that. It just shouldn't be limited to a goalie leaving the crease.

If Emery should get an extra two or extra five, so should a guy who does what Crosby did.

you have got to stop with the complaining about Crosby did or didn't get.... he's a superstar player in the league and will always get kid glove treatment. Gretzky got it, Lafleur got it, Crosby will continue to get it.... you can't seriously expect the league and officials to treat those guys the same way they treat others.

Downie is treated differently than Matt Read because he has history of doing stupid dangerous stuff.

what Emery did was cheap and classless and takes the game back to the craziness of the broad street bullies era... he threw a few punches - and not withstanding Holtby not appearing to want to fight... Emery knocked him down... at which point Emery should have stopped. It was the nonsense that the Flyers used to do that has lead largely to rule changes like jumping over the ice, third man in, etc.

now if that situation was reversed - and it was Bobby Clarke getting his ass handed to him... would you expect Schulz,Kelly, Bridgeman or one of the other heavies to come to his aid?

Huh?

Absolutely a Capital should have come to Holtby's aid, regardless of the third man in rule.

And I'm not giving Emery a pass. In fact nowhere did I say that I thought Emery was justified in his actions.

My issue is the hypocrisy in the NHL to complain that Emery should be suspended, but when a guy like Crosby does something similar, he's a great leader firing up his team. But I'm not defending what Emery did one bit.

What he did does happen in the NHL. His actions were an extreme example of it, but they're far from revolutionary or unheard of.
