I'm pretty sure a reactionary clothesline is as bad as just about anything else.
- golfingsince

agreed but what if he reached out to grab him Sedin ducked and got clotheslined?

the elbow was a reaction of extending his body to stop sedin once he realized he was going to pass him.. the video shows this all happened in less than a second, and the fact he missed by so much shows it was not planned.....

Lupul ATTEMPTED to hit his head but instead bit Kadri in the head. I'm NOT saying he WILL get suspended or that under the current system that he SHOULD but to me, its a faulty set up and should change in the near future.

I don't like seeing any player hurt, Kassian was finishing a check, missed him completely and just got his leg. I saw the replay over a dozen times and still can't really see where the cut happened. Freak accident with ZERO intention to cut his leg.

What is wrong with you?

This is obvious from your comments in the Sens blog about Anderson being carried off on a stretcher. Classy guy all around. You've got a big heart for sure.

You don't see Bollands left leg being kicked around the ankle

He did hit Sedin, elbow glanced off his shoulder pad

Pretty easy schedule coming up,

NJ plays thursday before arriving in TOR for friday.

We have a tough game vs. BOS, but a home 'n home the following weekend vs. BUF so it's not exactly the end of the world. We have the goaltending to weather the storm.

Ya respect in hockey is so wussy!

At this pace, Toronto will have their whole team on LTIR

MAYBE hugs and butt slaps that aren't just done in the shower after the game will do some good for the leafs

Again there is a huge difference between "I am going to friggin crush this guy with my elbow" which definitely = intent

to

"oh poop I am going to miss my hit and he is going to get a clear shot from the slot" and a reactionary extension of the arm which creates and elbow or a clothesline.....

both punishable... not nearly the same with regards to intent

- jribout

I have already said Lupul is not a dirty player. Remove the name off the back of the jersey and the logo off the front. An elbow should be an automatic 4 game suspension. See how quickly players stop throwing elbows . It would blow your mind how quickly it goes from the game.

I guess I can't just justify a reactionary elbow. IMO, it's similar to a player sticking out his knee. Both plays should be removed from the game. Again, IMO it can't always be about the result. Intent needs to be factored in wether a player is injured or not.

I hope they address this in the summer.

Did Kassian stick out is leg to hit Bolland? I believe although not definitive one could argue yes he did a little bit....

Again an attempt to reach out with the elbow is wrong but it happened within a half second of Lupul realizing he was going to miss his check after sedin got inside position on Kadri.... I do not think there was any intention to elbow Sedin in the head just stop him from getting to the front of the net....

Not trying to troll, but that wouldn't get you Brayden alone.
- Fosco

Maybe not, but it gets Luke's contract off of the books. He's a right shooting defenseman, that can play 3rd pair minutes. Liles is just a salary dump, to offset Luke's contract.

here you go knee is outside the body from the 20 second mark until the hit is finished which leads to an injury ...... pretty careless as it leaves no control over the skate and could lead to serious injury..... so hopefully they take care of this in the offseason

Yeah, Lupul hits him to the shoulder with his elbow, what a big (frank)ing meanie he is.

STFU, Kassian put the guy out for who knows how long - imagine if it was the other way around

Edit: oops sorry Leafman I am done on the kick

(frank) you want Lupul suspended for a reaction play - talk about (frank)ing whining

- Garnie

You won't find a lot of sympathy from Canuck fans towards Bolland. He has tried to injure a few Canucks when he was a Hawk. He slew footed Daniel Sedin going into the boards ,and when he came back off his first game back from a concusion he elbowed a Canuck player in the head.

As they say payback is a Bittch

I don't entirely like either play but there is much more intent with lupuls hit than Kassian. Injury isn't always the determining factor, and according to the rules, that should have been called against JL

I do want the league to look at these types of plays, the league is much better when guys like Hank are playing.

The trade:

Two Schenn's, a second rounder for Liles and Gardiner, plus a fourth.

Huh.

Scratch the picks, and I, for one, wish the Flyers would do that.

I guess Lupul' hit would just have been payback for the Sedin's check from behind earlier in the game though....

After all they have a history of hitting from behind... see the Sharks in the playoffs

"Bolland was hobbled after he was hit along the boards by Canucks forward Zack Kassian, who appeared to have kicked Bolland in his ankle area. Based on first glance, it doesn't appear to be intentional."

Agreed!

Hopefully they do something about it if it's intentional yet he misses.
