More spectacular than anything we've got right now...
And Joe's still only played 28 games in the NHL. - AngryWhiteMale
Nothing about him is spectacular... better maybe |

We would have lost him to waivers if we didn't trade. - Garnie
Giving him that one-way deal wasn't the best idea. Perhaps Nonis didn't have a choice. |

Watching OTT/DAL.
Lehtonen is looking sharp. Can't understand why a country like Finland with only 5m people can produce so many good goalies. |

Who is playing 2nd line? - jribout
JVR - McClement - Kessel
Lupul - Kadri - Kuleman
Raymond - Somebody - Clarkson
McClaren - McClement - Orr
Phaneuf - Riley
Franson - Ranger
Gardiner - Gunner
that's how I would load up this ALL STAR team |

Fraser may be back Friday, won't be surprise if they send him on a conditioning stint with the Marlies, doubt it though, they have some cap freed up with Bozak and Bolland injuries. |

Hi Leaf Regs.... I understand my trust level in a Leaf Blog in historically (and somewhat legendarily) low but I ask for everyone to put that aside for a discussion on this post.
****************************************************
I wanted to discuss the Lupul hit. If he had made contact to Sedin it could have been an enormous concussion and lengthy suspension. Why would cross-conference, "rivals-in-media only" take such risks?
The play is being treated in two ways. In Toronto and on the CBC, it was ignored as embarrassing, although why the CBC would not mention it is flabbergasting. In Vancouver it is the new TSN TOP 10 dumb plays of the decade.
But we are all washing aside the greater discussion of why Lupul would endanger one of the top scorers in the league and get a pass from media and fans alike.
Here is the thing that made me uncomfortable... some on these boards hoped Kardi actually had a concussion so the CBC would have been forced to discuss it and laugh at TO. While on the other hand, people hoped he made contact with Sedin and put him out for months for laugh at VAN. Both views are highly unpalatable but the central figure and action here is Lupul and, again, he gets a free pass.
Why is this? And did we, as fans, get caught in the hype of the game and miss a highly dangerous play? |

Kessel Kadri JVR
Loops Mckegg Raymond
Clarkson McClement Kulemin
Orr Smith Mclaren/Lievo
It wouldn't hurt to give Mckegg a chance to go out there, esp on friday vs. a weak team like NJ and see how he does. |

Not sure how much of an upgrade he is, good tough D...not the quickest but should keep things calm around the net after whistles....Hoping he comes back as good or even better than last year though
Who's gonna sit, I've been tough on Ranger but others think he's doing a stellar job |

It was a careless play by Lupul, luckily there was no damage done.
The one thing I found odd about the game was, the refs had no problem calling the hits from behind but missed a blatant hit by Sedin against Ranger that was worse than most of the hits from behind the Leafs got, and seconds later, the other Sedin hit Kadri from behind but not as bad. Ref had a clear view of the Ranger hit.
Probably wouldn't have made a difference but you can't let one go and then call the rest. |

Actually thought Ranger wasn't half-bad last night.
We were just beaten by a team that wanted it a lot more than we did. |

Have yet to see anyone claim Ranger has been stellar... He has been getting consistently better and I think has been more than okay the last 4-5 games at least for the most part.... people supporting Ranger said give him a chance to acclimatize to the speed of the NHL game and he seems to be doing so...... Franson has been getting worse since the start of the year and Rielly looks better than him |

Yeah I admit Gardiner hasn't looked great but it isn't panic mode. We can survive a few weeks if the goaltending is good and special teams show up. |

Frustration, happens all the time. No foul no crime
No worse than the accidental kick that was a non call. As I stated previous, strange another player steps on your stick and it's tripping but you go in and ACCIDENTLY kick a guy with your skate AND put him out for what could be 1/2 the season and it's high 5's all day long for the NUCKS

The difference could have been significant.... not only could the Leafs PP have slowed the Canucks momentum.... Ranger took a retaliatory penalty about 10 seconds later and then Van scored on the PP |

Reilly's playing with house money. He doesn't have the burden of expectation that guys like Gardiner and Franson have to contend with. |
