To be honest, I have yet to see much of a drop off between Manuel and Lewis. I think Manuel will end up being the better quarterback, but he isn't there yet.
- buffalofan19

Well its simple. EJ has played what? 17 quarters of an NFL career. He's got the physical tools and looks the part of a professional. Management and coaches are taking it nice and easy with his development. Thad has been around. When its all said and done he's reached his "potential" as a QB. Solid backup but Manuel is untapped.

I thinks its a nice combo and i'd like to see both here going forward. We just have to get our lucky breaks. When will it be our year to face 7 straight backup qb's? Or be in a division that's up for grabs half way through the season?

I honestly believe the bills should 7-1 and no less. Its a shame they have lost 3 qb's, have 3 hobbling rb's and a club handed starting Cb.
- Buffalo--Sabres

It seems that every year there is some team with a losing record such as 2-8 or 3-7 where 5 or 6 of those losses are by 7 points or less. It isn't just about the quarterback. It's about knowing how to close out games, something the Bills just haven't learned how to do yet.

It's a shame. This Bills team is very good and very well coached . They need Manuel
- sbroads24

Bills are heading in the right direction. They are a playoff team with above average QB play, unfortunately they haven't been dealt a good hand with the injury to Manuel. Manuel is not a guarantee to play at an above average level this early in his career but provides the best chance for the Bills to get that.

It is though. If the Steelers and Bills switched QB's the Bills would be near the top of the division and the Steelers would be picking #1 overall IMO.

I agree, but at this point, as in where they are in their careers right now (as opposed to where they will end up), I'm not sure Manuel gives them a much better chance than Lewis did. That's all I am saying.

Perhaps. I guess I should have clarified that I was talking about quarterbacks that were already within the organization.

Ahh. I do agree with you that the difference between Manuel and Lewis in the now is fairly close. It will be the long term projection that favors Manuel.

Im more than pleased with where our team is going. Agree with you on Manuel. This upcoming draft will be huge in the process of taking the "leap" into contention for a playoff spot. If we can address our issues on the O-Line and look at adding an OLB or a few more targets for EJ at TE then we could be sitting pretty. But of course it all hinges on EJ moving forward with the rest of the team. Sucks...

You can't count the Colts as him building them. They failed and landed Peyton. End of building right there. When he left they turned over almost that whole roster

I still like the EJ Manuel pick but the Bills shouldn't be close minded on improving that position. If they find themselves in a position at the draft where there is a QB with a higher ceiling than Manuel, I would do it. It is that important to get the QB position right. You need a star, its non negotiable these days.

I like the direction the Bills culture is heading. Its nice to see.

Only difference in the 2 is Thad has been able to throw the long ball. He has missed many open recoevers within 20 yards.

EJ Manuel just told me he feels REALLY good and will see a whole lot more reps next week in prax. Lookd loose & mobile working out pregame.

Absolutely. If everybody is healthy, there's no question that Manuel is the guy you play. He gives you as good a chance to win as Lewis, but you also develop him for a greater upside. My problem is that I think Manuel simply gives you "as good" of a chance to win, not really a "better" one right now.

Agree to disagree. He still had to maintain the roster and did a extremely good job at it.

Manuel is better than Thad. It's not a huge difference but Thad has awful pocket presence. He has lost some awful fumbles and taken some pretty bad sacks. He has hit the big play, only reason is because teams are giving him that. Once they take that away and he has to be consistent with throws from 10-20 yards we are in trouble

Bills 2014 offseason...
Draft shutdown CB
Draft L-Guard
Draft Safety
I'm not yet sold on Manuel, see him as a Culpepper type...good for few years (which I'll take after last 15 years of QB failures) but not the Franchise QB a 1st is expected to be
