I agree DD, that hiring is not just for head scout. It has much more meaning to it. I like Cunney think he got a raw deal in MTL
- sabresfandan

He sure did dan. Crazy frenchies up there.

I would agree. Something odd about hiring him yesterday.

That and Sacco sure isn't the answer as a replacement.

Fan outrage over Patrick Kaleta being waived is a great look into why this fanbase is so idiodic sometimes. Being able to overlook the fact that he is a 4th line talent who is one hit away from missing a quarter of a NHL season because he's a "good-ol Buffalo boy" or somehow shows hard work ethic is beyond me. Hes a replaceable plug in the league and anyone who disagrees is brain-dead.

Don't think many would disagree.

I know little about Randy but from just looking up his history in the league gives little hope he could be a game changer for the team. Hes bounced around allot but maybe hes held in high regard nonetheless. I dunno. Do we have any sources of praise for him from other organizations?

They just hired him as a scout. I think it already did.
- buffalofan19

I think he is still based in Rochester. I thought I heard on the radio last night that he has been personally assigned to Kaleta to help him out, perhaps I heard that wrong.

I know you have said in the past you didn't want to hire people with connections to Buffalo but I think Cunneyworth is a terrific person to have in an organization. He is good. Great person, knows his stuff.

For a guy people say has no 'talent' kaleta was Buffalos best pk'er. Buffalo has folded to the pressure of the NHL! Put kaleta on a team like Boston The same buffalo fans who hate him would wish he was with buffalo...

Cunneyworth would sure be a huge improvement over the professor. At least he has some NHL experience both as the head man and as an assistant when he was in Atlanta.

So it's Kaleta's fault the Sabres are a joke?

Give me a break! This is a total deflection job by Buffalo brass.

Kaleta plays with a high level of compete and intensity. And his "hit anything that moves style" of old time hockey walks the line on a nightly basis... But don't kid yourself...

This organization is rotting from the top down, not vise versa.

Just as a public service announcement, here's a refresher on what a REAL cheap shot artist looks like...

Kaleta has Kaleta to blame for this.

Nothing more, nothing less.

This team hasn't been any better or worse on the PK without him. He's a non-factor on his best day, and it's been that way for at least 3 seasons.

On these boards. Possibly. Some other sites and on the radio have been whining so damn much. Twitter was ridiculous last night with some of the opinions fans had on the move. Idiots all of em

Well I for one don't really care if Kaleta plays for us again. I loved him but his act wore thin. My issue is with the NHL and Shanahan. The dept. of player safety is becoming a punchline

He did very well as an AHL coach.

Got munsoned when Atlanta moved to Win.

Got a raw deal in Montreal.

It was a good move to bring him in the fold.

Kaleta is one of the many reasons as of late our team is a joke

Hes a cog on any team. Non factor waiver pickup or a guy who GMs pick up for a one year deal. Hard work is pointless if its all for naught...generally his play is felt the most when the team is on the PK because of him.

That's probably correct, and at this point, I'd be able to live with it simply because it's different. However, the refusal to go outside their "network" is still very frustrating.

I'm sure he has supporters out there, and he'd be a huge step up from RR. Give it a month or two, he'll be back in Buff.

Same here thanks, ready for RR to get the axe. I don't mind RR but I just don't think he's the man for this NHL job let alone any other one. If we can't get Darcy out we gotta get RR out. Cunney would be a good fit I think.

Agreed. RR is no NHL coach, better in Rochester in my view. He's in over his head.
