Jamie McBain is the new Andrej Sekera, according to Garth.

His proposal was Miller and McBain for Yakupov.

McBain has sicker trade value than Sekera!!!!!

I know its odd to say this. But the Bills have looked good while losing where the Sabres look awful
- hubie

The Bills should have won that game yesterday, even after considering the two turnovers for touchdowns. That was simply a matter of the team playing well, but not making any really big plays, on offense or defense, with the exception of Goodwin's touchdown. 6 dropped passes is a killer. I know Alex Smith is all about managing games, but to get only one sack and no turnovers against a team like that, is going to kill you, no matter how well you play on offense.

And I would love that. To me package for 1st liners. Trade and get a stud top line.
Mcnabb is going to be the odd man out it appears going forward.

To me we have 4 locks on d going forward myers erhoff riso zadorov
and id almost add weber/pysk to the mix which going forward could be great

Dont forget 19 year old Jake McCabe. He is a bonafide leader. Team USA captain winning gold. Wisconsin alternate captain.

Eats minutes for his team like its nothing. Hes only getting better. The kid could make the transition the the big league next year IMO.

i think they are trying and you can really see it from time to time.. coaching is mind bottling more often than not and there is a lack of veteran leadership
- IndianaSabresFan

The veterans clearly don't respect Rolston or what he's trying to do. Put a coach in there that they respect, and you will see "leadership" take its course. That was Ruff's problem as well towards the end. Nobody cared what he had to say anymore.

this is where weber might eventually get rubbed out of the lineup. the problem i see with that defense is there is not a top pairing unless risto and zads develope quickly

well if Hodge is on the bench questioning his decisions (which someone on here reported but i have no way to verify) then this very well could be the case. But in the same respect that looks bad on Hodge for being that guy

I agree, they should have won, seems like all of a sudden we can hit the qb

The way Rolston interacts with the media makes Richard Jurons speaking skills look like hes Martin Luther King Jr.

Hes such a wiener to everyone and lacks and notion hes capable of critically thinking when people ask him questions. Its like somehow hes offended that he has to field questions as a NHL head coach. Sorry buddy but thats the gig, especially when your team never appears to be organized and you are leading the league in suspensions.

You gotta believe if hes like that just a little bit behind closed door in the locker room players dont give a flying (frank) what he has to say.

probably not.. if Darcy isn't going to be moved they need to do something about the coach. but in reality i think darcy needs gone which should solve the coaching issue

Hes projected as a top 4 dman. But who knows...hes shown responsibility is not an issue in his game. I think he could be a very good defensemen in the coming years.

Unless somehow we ship Myers off Webers time is counting down on this team. He isnt terrible but we are going to have the awesome problem of figuring out what to do with the talented D corps coming up the ranks.

Agree on the top pairing right now. It wont be till late in the season or in reality next year to shake the pairings out. Its just wayyyyy too early and we are so young everyones style, habits, skill levels are going to go everywhere.

Well the best case scenario is hes ready next season. He is a junior at Wisconson and was up in the air about returning instead of going pro. The badgers are a good team and he wanted a shot at a title.

Because of his leadership qualities and overall "smartness" he could mentally make the jump. Hes not small either 6'1 210 pounds2011-2012

Wisconsin 26 3 9 12 0.46 6 12 0.46 2 0 2 0
Wisconsin 38 3 18 21 0.55 23 54 1.42 2 0 0 0
Wisconsin 6 2 5 7 1.17 1 2 0.33 1 1 0 0
Career Totals 70 8 32 40 0.57 30 68 0.97 5 1 2 0

He seems to be finding his scoring touch too.

Unless he really wows some people next year, McCabe will be in Rochester.

I mean i guess it depends on what your looking for. Six 2nd pairing d men allows you to roll out lines with confidence. There is always a need for that "shut down" line or a PP QB but 2nd pairing guys can still play that role.

Zadorov has shown he can kill a puck carrier if you are entering the zone.

Rasmus certainly has shown he knows how to make the smart+conservative play to keep any player at bay...so has Pysyk.

Ehrhoff cant shoot as of late but does a good job at least cycling the puck on the PP from up top.

Tyler obviously has all the tools to be a number one dman on the team. We know it and he knows it (hopefully) he just isn't on a great defensive team and for whatever reason cant pull together a solid overall game continually.

I think teams can be very successful with both makeups. I will always lean to favoring depth though just for the fact that you can sustain injury...move pairings around and see less effect in drop off of performance.

There is a chance of that. Next years camp will give a good look into his potential for sure.

Or maybe we move a D man in a package since we are flush with talent. I would be fine picking Ekblad as well if Reinhart was selected before us if we are unable to secure the 1st overall.

Even with our offensive needs Ekblad is a stud. I think in a scenario like that you pick BPA and move someone like McNabb or McCabe for a forward you like. Its all relative sometimes. Draft a great player allowing you to move another good player for needed positions.

Ekblad-Ehrhoff
Rasmus-Myers
Zadorov-Pysky

If everyone develops like they are pegged to thats an d corps that you win cups with plain and simple....wish it was that easy though

Sorry to disagree but this team has failed to compete and has left the intensity outside the arena most games this season... Like I said, losing is understood... losing and failing to compete is not....
- rapperray

I would point to the avalanche on this one. The team played terrible and whenever I saw them play, it was unenthused at BEST. Brought in Roy, completely pulled a 180 for that franchise. I think a coach change could do the same for our kids. Change the attitude and atmosphere that this team plays with on and off the ice. Plus you gotta learn how to lose before you can learn how to win in the nhl.

This years been disappointing, but I didn't expect too much more. Like you said though, hoped for a little more fire, trying to prove they belong. But I blame it on coaching and management.

That is the biggest word in the dictionary. Let's remember the Sabres have had many DRAFT CHOICES IN THAT "IF" CATEGORY.....Thus far they have not panned out so great....
