I don't mind Simpson, Hughson and Friedman. The rest of the CBC crew is awful - Bieksa#3
Simpson (and to worse extent, Healy) talk way too much, end of story. That's on the producer and/or Hughson to reign in.
The problem is those guys think we're all watching the game because of them but really, we're watching in spite of them. |

Who else would they get? The CBC isn't exactly chock full of talent.
Hughson's a fine play-by-play guy; a Canucks homer, yes, but he does a good technical job of covering the game. What I don't like is how he has no control or sense of what's good for the game in it's entirety: he lets the colour guys take up way too much air time with pointless, repetitive, ad nauseam plays.
Great example was the first PP goal: Healy and Simpson literally talked about it 5 times: 3 replays (once after commercial break), and twice during live play afterwards. You can't even hear the ice-level during CBC broadcasts because of so much droning by the broadcast team.
Cole never let them get carried away like that: I don't know if they knew not to blabber on or talk over him, but however he did it, the games were better because of it. - gravyface
Cole spend a good part of his days with a better side kick in neale. As I said Cole was great in his day, but should have retired 15 yrs ago. |

And Gardiner in his 20 plus minutes a game isn't on with them? fifth in points on defence. Offensive defensmen - honesthockey
Gardiner 20+ minutes a game?
Averages more ice time than Ranger
So Carlyle thinks hes good, considering he plays him that much?
Hm. Weird. When people talk about Bozak, you bring up how Carlyle plays him so much, and that you're not going to disagree with an NHL coach.
You can't possibly be disagreeing with an NHL coach about Gardiner.
Man, you're making this too easy |

There is absolute denying. HE SUCKS, period. He kills the game with overanalysis. Paralysis by analysis. You want the soul sucked out of hockey? Listen to Hughson and Simpson show how utterly hockey competent they are and fill every second with useless twaddle.
He SUCKS.
Unless you're a Canucks fan, I suppose. He's got your back. Take him back. He'd clearly rather be there anyway. - fifty__missions
fifty - you are incorrect.
It is NOT the Canuck fan's backs that he has. |

Ranger makes mistakes, but he seems to make them while generally in position - and he does take the body - except of course when's he hit from behind into the boards.
Coached at lot of youth hockey - and I can tell you that Gardiner drives Carlyle nuts because his first instinct is to skate around in circles and not use the body- which is a bi-product of playing youth hockey in the States ( please don't debate me on this point I know of what I speak ). Just watch the kid and his positioning on the fourth Canuck goal, and earlier in the game the Canuck player simply walks around him, forcing Ranger to come all the way across to make the play.
He has a ton of potential, no question, but his head generally doesn't allow him to commit to playing consistent d. - BorjeFan4Ever
Agreed. Gardiner was terrible last night. |

Before you haters talk about Gardiner sucking, remember when you laughed at what a bust Kadri was?
Gardiner has great upside and talent. He played fantastic in the playoffs last Spring. |

I don't think you can reign healy in. I have no idea why he is still employed. As Friedman called him a 14 yr old boy |

take out the smarmy... its redundant - you're talking to a Canuck's fan.
substitute delusional or just plain old boring. - BorjeFan4Ever
I take offence to this. Smarmy yes. Delusional maybe. But redundant NEVER.
You show me where any statement I made could be considered redundant.
The only redundancy you'll see on this thread is leaf fans blaming the refs for everything that's wrong with the leafs.
The leafs played poorly yesterday. That's no ones fault but their own. |

Obviously a coach will play a player that much because he thinks he's good.
How dare you disagree with Carlyle?
I'll gladly take a NHL coaches opinion over yours!

I'm off to shovel the sidewalk. Aparently in Alberta its my responsibility to shovel it because employing a snow removal crew would involve raising taxes, and that's a sure way to get voted out of office here. i just wish there wasn't a foot of snow |

Don't hurt yourself though. If it's heavy, wet snow. Just drive over it with the car
Or if you're shoveling it, ask HH for his Life Alert necklace |

I get that Simpson is loved and appreciated anywhere west of the Manitoba boarder... but my god Healy is just awful. He regularly rips the players for one play that they mess up ...
he clearly hasn't watch replays of his games very often.
I really wish they would bring back Milbury - even though he really over does the Bruin love regularly... but he always puts Healy in his place... and that can't happen enough.
I wonder why there are no ex-Canuck players in commentary?....
oh nevermind. |

An awfulk noght in Leaf land. The Leafs get COMPLETELY outplayed by the hated Nucks every which way. Lu got a free bee SO as all the Leafs were doing was shooting right into his chest. Leafs lose one of their most important players in Bolland for God knows how long. And one of the best most funniest posters in HB gets banned. Very forgettable evening |

The refs forced them to play Vancouver's game. No question about that. Way too many penalties called. |
