For real?

Yes, that really was the start of the downward slide: Burrows et al got under the Leafs skin, we tried to respond physically, but ended up on the wrong side of the zebras all night.

I didn't see the game, but did Phyllis swing his hatchet, errr stick at Kassian and Burrows?

I didn't watch any of the game. But I'm assuming Kassian did this on purpose correct?
- weirdoh

The most telling stat from yesterday's game was the 47 shot against.

Your team needs to fix that poop. Got to protect your goalies better.

They need new blood. They need actual respected hockey players for analysis. Are you seriously saying PJ is a better option than Kypreos or Bob McKenzie? Why not have guys who have recently retired like a Recchi or Modano on? I doubt you'll see Healy mouth off to one of those guys.
- Arctic_AARDVARK

I have 100% confidence Healy would mouth anybody. Kypreos is a moron. But Hughson, Simpson and Friedman are about the only thing decent at CBC.

Leafs need to work on puck possession and shots. The defense is constantly defending the zone and starting to cause too many penalties.

Hughson hosting the Bure ceremony lost him a lot of credit.

Exactly. People are puzzled by the fan rivalry. But for some reason it's affecting the players as well. It seemed that way yesterday.

So its the refs fault?
- Bieksa#3

We should've ignored Burrows and the Canucks Modus operandi and just played a smart road game; down 18-11 in shots, 0-1 on the scoreboard, no reason to lose our poop.

Every time they started to build momentum and started getting physical it was a parade to the box.

Guy in a Vancouver fan but he's fair.

Who the (frank) is CBC gonna replace him with. You mean the guy who should have retired 15 yrs ago Bob Cole?

Now I know you're just spewing hate. Kassian has huge weaknesses in a lot of areas (mostly between the ears) but skating is not one of them.
- bloatedmosquito

Yeah - Orr looks like Crosby compared to Kassian's skating abilities

Recchi is a jack ass who has little respect around the hockey world. This is the guy who said Max P had nothing wrong with him and was faking the injury from chara.

There's playing physical and then there's forgetting about the puck to just make a hit. The leafs were guilty of that and it cost them.

I've been checking out the ESPN shot tracker diagrams they've creating after each game, and I think there's some method to the madness here:
http://sports.espn.go.com...gamecast?gameId=400484451

There's a lot of shots to the outside and a usually a decent cluster in close tight; for all the Corsi talk, there's not much talk to losing possession by taking the shot. That's why the Leafs track scoring chances and if you believe what Randy usually mentions in the pressers, the scoring chances are typically pretty close.

Now that 3rd goal by Reimer was a softie, and pretty much put the game on ice, but there are a ton of low percentage shots there and that's pretty typical; the Leafs D does a good job (better with Fraser) of boxing out and preventing second chances, but that requires rebound control, and something that Reimer's getting better at, but I still put Bernier ahead of him.

Yeah I bet Recchi mocking a guy who left on a stretcher from a dirty hit gets him lots of props around the league.

I had my suspicions but now they have been confirmed. You know nothing about hockey. But you sure know a lot about hate.
