The Canucks use the referees to win games. They make it an art now. Grabbing the sticks that come anywhere near them to draw hooking penalties. Turning away from hits to draw boarding calls. That's tough play, willing to take a career ending injury to give your team a two or five minute advantage.
The Leafs were badly outplayed tonight which makes it even more pathetic that they can't turn it off.
Thank god we only play them twice. |

Who would you take franson or garrison - Mapleleafs_91
Garrison is very good in his own end. Not sure if Cody is much younger. |

Not gonna lie, Verhague is looking more and more like a huge steal in the last draft. Kid is unreal, so slick, such a smooth skater and you never notice him making mistakes in his own end. So invisible defensively, love that in a center. To me that is Gilmour if he ever pans out. Kadri is like Mogilny. - Viktory
Woahh in what sense Here we gotta compare the players to old timers.
Clarkson= Wendel Clark/Tucker
Orr= Domi
Kessel=
Kadri= Dougie Gilmour
Lupul= Gary Roberts
JVR= Steve Thomas
Bernier= Potvin/Cujo
Phaneuf=
Gardiner=
Rielly=
Franson=
Lets fill in some of the blanks |

It's amazing you guys have 10 wins and 5 losses to the refs. Tonight was by far the most PP's we've had all year. Even after tonight we've spent more time short handed than on the PP. Nice try though. |

He's 2.5 years older.
Garrison really came into his own around the age Franson is now.

A great deal of chippy play was allowed to go on while many crap calls were made. JVR's boarding call was horrible. McLaren' was also suspect. You have to admit to at least those two. Not blowing the play dead with Bolland on the ice and letting the guy who kicked him score the second goal was a game changer. |

Goals are very similar, something out of nothing, out of nowhere, and makes ridiculous no look passes. Very Buffalo era Mogilny.
JVR reminds I guess closest to Nieuwendyk from Leafs I actually saw play.
Kessel is basically Sittler.
Lupul... hmmm... Vaive maybe? All over the ice, not just Offensive.
Phaneuf reminds me a lot of McCabe in terms of how he's treated
Rielly is looking a lot like Salming great passing, always involved in the offense.
That's about as far as I'll go. |

And if I have to listen to the Hughson and Healy drool over the Canucks anymore than 2 games per year I'll hurl! |

Then I'd have to say that I'd take Garrison right now for sure. If Cody turns it up this season then i'd have to re-examine. Garrison looked a little lost for about a dozen games last year as he joined the team a little injured and took some time to gel with new teammates. Since then, I've really liked his game. |

I personaly believe Franson is kind of topped out. Garrison was never really bad in his end, considering he played for some really bad Panthers teams. Brian Campbell turned him into a PP god tho.
But good news is I'm at 507.50 in Fantasy with 8 players left tomorrow |

Agreed with kessel and sittler
Lupul maybe vaive but i see lupul as a clutch player and when i think clutch and clutch in playoffs i think of gary roberts.
JVR maybe a nieuwendyk or perhaps steve thomas?
Rielly is the next GOD
and yeah we should stop there |

Whatever, i'm sure the refs will be to blame at least another 10 times this year.5 on 5 play seemed to be carried by Vancouver for most of the game.
I won't even get into the commentators debate. Hughson covered Bure for a number of years and that's where most of his love went tonight. I'm not sure you saw the guy play all that much but he was truly one of the most electrifying players in the history of the game. Bar none, the best hockey player to ever play in Vancouver.
Your team was outplayed, deal with it. It happens to everyone over the course of a season. |

BEST hockey player to ever play in Vancouver? Debateable, I think you'd have an argument there with the Sedins both having won Art Ross/Hart Trophies and having broken all his records (except goals in a season) which I will give him. Definitely our only generational talent we've ever had, definitely should have had his number retired sooner, but definitely Top 5, maybe even top 3 with Hank #1, Bure #2 and Danny #3. |

Well this sucks.
I really don't care about the loss. But losing Bolland is hard to swallow. Vancouver showed why so many other teams hate them. Although there is no arguing the Canucks played a better game than the Leafs, i just wish they weren't such an embarrassment to the league. They will NEVER win a cup. They are forever cursed by the hockey Gods. Victory is always earned, not stolen. The Sedin's showed that they are still among the very best in the world, and Luongo will be Canada's #1 in Sochi. man those guys are fast. Leafs never really had any room to skate. Kessel was frustrated from the get go.
Clarkson needs to stop being a little female dog. Those pretty eyes are not going to win over Leafs fans. FFS an go take care of Kassian! DO SOMETHING YOU LAZY (frank)! Kuli looked lost and that was easy to predict, but i think he'll work hard this week getting back into game shape (if he's not traded). The high sticks were unfortunate, but unless Burrows has clear blood that should not have been a double-minor. I could go on and on about the boarding calls and how easily the Canucks fell down, but the fact is that everyone knows they do that so why even bother playing the body? Phaneuf was okay, but once again as captain of the team he did nothing to motivate the rest of the guys. The leafs hung Rielly and Reimer out to dry. Fraser is needed immensely. Orr and MacLaren were the only Leafs making a difference last night. Right now i hate Kassian more than anyone in the league. Not because i think he meant to hurt Bolland, but because he shows no remorse. Even Matt Cooke said something along the lines of an apology. If you badly hurt another person you should acknowledge that. |

If you hit a guy from behind near the boards, it's going to get called, regardless of whether the player goes down 'easy' or not. You guys got outworked, outplayed and completely dominated in your own zone and you got frustrated and the refs called you on it to keep the game from turning into another Philly/Washington line brawl. It was unfortunate that Bolland got hurt, but no way was Kassian going to apologize for a clean hit, and to put your Matt Cooke analogy into perspective he was already a marked man for the hits he put on Savard, among others and probably expected the NHL to call him on the carpet for Karlsson getting injured and wanted to look good before a review hearing.
