Emery was just showing his frustration on several matters. He does not want to be a back up, he does not like the team in front of him when he does play, he does not like to lose and all of above triggered him. I love Ray Emery and old man Snyder should turn Emery loose on his teamates and beat them into showing up for games. Seriously Ray is a battler and very competitive and he just snapped. No suspension forthcoming but he will be on a short rope with Lord Shanahan.

Emery snapped because he's mad at himself for leaving the Blackhawks

"It was fun, exciting," Talbot said. "I liked the atmosphere where even though they came back 2-2 in the third, the bench was just even keel. We just didn't panic and went for it. That's the feeling of a winning team, a team that's confident, a team that plays with a little bit of a spark, and it was a good feeling."

It was almost as cheap as a Malkin or NEal elbow.at least holtby had a chance to defend himself. Begone troll!
- PhillaBully

What would you be saying if Holtby had "defended himself" by throwing around the blocker Emery never gave him a chance to take off?

How are the sixers doing attendance wise the last few years? And what about the phillies? Down 20 percent since the World Series win. Every city is a front runner city.

And I don't need to go into the claims of 10 years of abandonment being far more than the actual. Or the incredibly high number of teams in all sports to receive public money for buildings.

But the least you could do is properly reference Mario. Just to refer to him as a hall of famer isn't showing enough respect. Legend should be used. He deserves that distinction over the likes of guys like say Joe Nieuwendyk

So when the pens suck in a few years are you going to turn into a rangers fan... Front runner

Emery should be suspended at least 3 games for what he did.

the Cap players on the ice should probably be suspended for a game as well, for not even attempting to help Holtby.

- FlyerGuy

Latta and others tried but were waved away by the clown ref. McPhee has built a team full of pusses so the fact that 2 Flyers were beaten down is embarrassing.

I stayed away from the boards last night because of utter frustration, and I knew what it would be like. And rightfully so, they deserve all of the criticism they got. You could see some signs of progress being made under Berube. But there was obviously still lot's of work to do. But how you can go so completely backwards, to the have the bottom drop out like that, is mind boggling. That game, the 2nd period especially, was pathetic and embarrassing. It's one thing to compete and lose games just because you aren't that good of a team. But that game was beyond that. That game screamed to me, "we're not that good, and we don't give a poop about it". That's how bad that effort was. I was embarrassed to be a Flyers fan last night. Oh goodie, they decided to fight back and get into some fights! Too little, too late! Where was that fight when they truly needed it? I won't single out a single player for criticism, they were all bad. With the exception of the Goalies. This team talent wise is so much better. Well talent on paper isn't worth crap with that effort behind it. Fans are chanting "fire Holmgren". He is ultimately responsible, but how can the GM be responsible for that effort? That's all on the players. I'm disgusted. Rant over.

Number one problem with the flyers is that this team has no prospects pushing to make the big team... These guys aren't looking over their shoulder in fear of getting replaced by younger better players. I blame homer for that! He should have fully rebuilt this team after Ritchie and carts were traded instead of offering bad free agent contracts

What makes you assume I'm a front runner? Is it impossible to be a life long Penguins fan outside of Pittsburgh? Do no hardcore fans of any team live in other parts of the country?

Why would I turn into a Rangers fan? Because I live in Rochester? A city 60 miles from Buffalo, that has been home to the Sabres AHL affiliate my entire life, with a small gap last decade being the only exception? Also, Toronto is closer than NYC, as is Pittsburgh, and Philly is essentially the same distance as NYC too. Not to mention the Rangers will probably still suck then too. Good job making 100% wrong claims based on zero information regarding a total stranger.

For some reason I'm skeptical. Had Emery gotten his face bashed with a blocker people would likely lose their minds.

if I was a capitals player... I would have been skating over there ready to just beat emery to a pulp.

you just don't do that to a guy who clearly doesn't want to fight.

- SuperHenderson13

Yeah that didn't quite happen did it? no one helped him. Quite frankly, this isn't the first time a goalie fought another goalie who didn't want to fight and it won't be the last. this team has had ZERO life to them so personally I don't care what Emery did.

Stop it front runner. Once the pens fall, you'll be back to the sabers. I wonder if you were supporting the pens from 2000-2006

Well said and wise of you to stay away last night. I was thinking the same thing about the fighting...where was it at the end of the first period or earky in the second. The only thing it got as at the end of that debacle was injuries to 2/3 of the first line. Maybe, individually, these players are NHL quality players, but this is obviously not a well put together team.

Now you know what its like to be a Leafs fan 4 years ago when the Leafs prospect cupboard was empty due to stupid trades. Everyone throws the Goalie trade the leafs made that sent Rask to the B's.

The flyers have there own trade like that in sending Bobrovsky to the Bluejackets. Holmgren has made other questionable trades JVR for L. Schenn. Its kind of sad how he dismantled the flyers team that went to the cup against the hawks only really good player left from that team is Giroux.

Why does the GM routinely do post game interviews and give injury reports? Are they afraid of Berube being politically incorrect? I realize the coach does answer a few questions but most organizations do not have the GM in this role. Any idea why Mr. Snider wants him there?
- TJ

Holmgren does not routinely do postgame interviews. It is only when there is an injury to report or, rarely, if a trade was made in-game (such as when Ben Eager was traded).

Holmgren has done the in-game injury reports since John Stevens was the coach.

Not sure why the organization prefers it that way.

I may be in the minority, but I think Emery should get suspended for what he did to Holtby. For those who disagree, ask yourself how you'd feel about a backup goalie doing to Mason what Emery did to Holtby.

About the only positive thing I can take from last nights debacle is that if it goes on like this a lot of vets should be willing to waive their NMC/NTCs to go to contenders. This could both free up a lot of cap space and bring in a lot of picks and prospects.

Another Flyers fan makes a logical point, critical of a Flyers player, and in return he's basically called a crying, whiny little puss. This, right here, is the insightful, respectful, and intelligent debate I come here for. Kudos.
