I like your optimism, but I'd really feel better if they could score a 2nd goal.
- BiggE

I could see it ending 2-1, or 1-0.

I will never respect the Devils for this reason. Say what you will about them not being the devils of old, they have always played (frank)ing boring style hockey.

Putting opponents to sleep for years.

Did Voracek think there was only 2 seconds left in the period when there was really 18? Just took a worthless shot which resulted in a possession change. These guys need to get possession in deep and break down the coverage and get good scoring chances. They're just one and done so often
- eayost

they seem to want to shoot the puck immediately when they cross the blue line.

one and done is exactly right.

Its because everything is along the wall. So robotic, and coordinated.

D-first baby. Have always hated that BS.

Flyers seem too focused on structure. Its robotic out there, especially in the offensive zone.

No creativity, and if thats Berube's style, I'm not a fan.

- flyer_nutter

they are a little robotic ... but it's still only a month into the new coach's system

I'm willing to give the D-first system some time to work.

that O-first approach didn't really pan out.

Berube's system is not a D first system. Neither is the Devils system under DeBoer. There is not excitement to it with the Flyers simply because their dynamic offensive players aren't so dynamic currently.

The word I believe would be pensive, uptight? Playing not to make a mistake. Given the circumstances I'm OK with that. as they regain their confidence then we'll see.

We knew that they were taking steps back in making the Richards/Carter deals. Deals that pretty much everyone, yourself included loved. Now it seems many are balking at the inevitable growing pains that come with a rebuild. Nobody expected it to be this much of a setback, but the Season is still young.
- MJL

if there were going to be growing pains up front, why was the rest of the team built to win now? thats poor planning and team construction.

i never said i loved the deals. i thought that G made richie expendable; richie was forcefed the captaincy and given big $$ and had an over-inflated sense of entitlement; i wanted to keep carter and thought the return for him was light; later i saw that jake and couts was fair compensation, but i had wanted hamilton because we needed a young dman to match the career arc of the young forwards; i was satisfied that we got enuf for richie and while the #'s indicate that's true, i'm starting to doubt b schenn and he was the key piece in return. i don't know whether richards could have changed his mindset to make it work here, but i must admit i would trade BS and WS for him if it was offered and $$ was not a factor...i hope i'm wrong, but BS looks like an avg plyr so far...and kinda slow.

the word "rebuild" is an interesting one because that would obviously imply that the whole team was on a similar youth track and since that wasn't in the plan in goal or on D, it reinforces the notion that mgmt was flying by the seat of their pants. hence, the numerous back-and-forths we've had.

First there are 2 different horns at this game. Second they also do it in Washington and Montreal.

they traded richards and carter more bc they were out of control in public, causing the flyers problems. This included a concert where they were apparently heavily intoxicated and drawing attention. Also Richards and Carter were not fitting into the flyer community as much as Snider would have liked. As far as them being absent at several events.

I don't think the flyers ever saw this as rebuild like you mentioned and that was just the poster's opinion. Thats not factual based.
