More like Al Davis. But your point is spot on.

This is such a meltdown I cant believe it. I think Lukko has to step in if hes not a merely a Snider corporate apologist company man and clean the mess up on his asset which is degrading and looks to lose a huge amount of money given the buyouts and two years without playoffs.

This is the second or third year in a row Giroux has had hand problems. Anyone remember his wrists being screwed after the 2012 playoffs as well ???
To be truthful I would trade him if reasonable depth value could be gotten. Of course which GM would you trust not to screw up the deal. I fear his hands will never recover or will take years. That brings this to mind-Does anyone remember the former Flyer ( was it Scott Mellanby ?) lawsuit over non hockey injuries to his hand or arms where he lost some use and sued for the potential loss of income due to limited abilities ??

The last time the team was this bad (06-07 and they were not this bad in the same way) I was friendly with someone in hockey operations with another NHL team and became a fan of theirs for the year. This year is much worse.

As far as Im concerned everyone on the roster is tradeable if it improves the team. However, Giroux at 8.25 million for 7 years makes it iffy. He isn't worth that. I said it when he signed it, and Ill say it now.

LOL @ the Giroux trade talk. You guys are pathetic. It's been what, 12 games? This is, by far, the most reactionary fan base I've ever seen.

What's lukko going to do? What can anyone do as long as snider is in place. They'll just shopping these guys out and restock the team with free agents, former captains, players they can sell to the mindless STH about all their past accomploshments.

If that doesn't work out, at least there's a circus on the ice for the kids as we witnessed last night

When you become a Flyers fan you should have gotten your reactionary fan base member card.

Giroux is basically a point per game guy and over that in the playoffs..
12 bad games lets trade him.

i don't think it's "trade giroux!" talk, i think most of us are coming to the sad realization that this team is about 20 pieces away from being where they need to be. i suspect even if G gets on track we're still giong to be middle of the pack. i think it is more like trade anybody to make the team better talk

Great question. Now that is a trade I would look into. Probably the only trade involving G.

I love Bobby Ryan, but in no way would I trade Giroux straight up for him.

In 2 years he'll be a free agent, if he doesn't sign an extension. If anything, you wait until then. We had a chance last year to get him, and either Homer didn't offer enough or Anaheim liked Ottawa's offer more.

If you're going to trade Giroux its for a monster return. Not just 1v1.

The fact that he has almost a point per game doesn't mean you don't trade him. I'm not advocating a trade now, but if he doesn't score a goal this year we should prob consider it.

I don't disagree with you. But last night was pretty bad. I'm usually optimistic and level headed about the team. I'm disgusted by their effort last night. I'm really hoping that there is some kind of team mental issue here. Because the alternative is frightening.

I'd be equally happy with Reinhart or Ekblad.

Plenty to be happy about, nobody is really setting themselves apart to be #1 but it's looking like a decent top 10 to 15 at this point.

Downie's discipline issues and injury history were cited as concerns.

Well, 17 pims, and a hospital bed later, those concerns have been put to rest.

- PLindbergh31

Downie's actions in the game, had zero to do with a lack of discipline. He came to the aid of a teammate, and sacrificed himself to do so. And paid for it with a concussion and a broken orbital bone. If anything, I like the deal even better. What he did showed the strength of his character, not his lack of discipline.
