I'm thinking it might not hurt to bench Giroux and make sure he gets the message. This perimeter game the Flyers have perfected really is sickening to watch.

We have to fix the problem before it spreads to Vinny and the AHL call ups.

- Flyersgod

I think benching Giroux is honestly the worst thing to do.

The organization put so much pressure on the kid, making him the face of the franchise at such a young age. There was no need for it, and they did the same to Richards.

Speaking of which, the Flyers over the last few years have lost Richards, Carter, JVR, Jagr and Briere. Who has been brought in, or better yet, who has contributed to replace the losses with any form of consistency?

LeCavalier, and thats about where it ends. Giroux is being put in an unfair position. I think this team is a sack of poop, but I will defend Claude.

Completely off topic... but does anyone here spend 500-700$ a month on groceries? I spend 200/mnth with a family of 3.

Was curious what others spend.

Now we don't know. That guy might have got the banhammer already. We, as a Flyers thread, were warned by both Bo and OB that personal attacks will yield a 3 month ban, with no warning. As a I recall, Bo called our first warning the Code of Conduct.

So just because Bo didn't call him out doesn't mean nothing was done. We don't know what goes on behind the scenes.

- Giroux_Is_God

Well, that was attacking other posters. The guy was over the line, but it's a tough night to be a Flyers fan and I didn't expect he was taking a stick to P'burgh with him to do the deed himself. (Sidney doesn't hang here.) There's got to be a safe place to be a Flyers fan, right?

Flyers have to start looking at the players they've assembled or the environment in which they create for the players. This has been since about around the time of the cup run where they've consistently have had slow starts, not shown up at all, or have had utter collapses when faced w/a little adversity. They've already dumped 2 coaches, and have brought in new players and its gotten worse.

I was just thinking this recently. Seems like something might be wrong with the environment

I mentioned it last night. This whole notion of starting out slow, needing wake up calls, rumors of partying/lack of dedication have been around for a while now.

I dont buy it all because of Philly media, but at the same time it does seem a lot of the crew dont really respect management, or at this point want to be here.

Talbot's comments from last night's game ring loud.

Agreed with the first point. If they were to bench him for a game or two, it all becomes a circus. The scrutiny and media pressure only gets intensified. He needs to play his way out of it.

I find that hard to believe, first of all…on everything you eat and drink all month? So I'm guessing you eat out quite a bit in addition--pretend those are grocery costs? And do you have a garden?

And you aren't shopping in places underserved by large markets with the prices jacked up because the shoppers have nowhere but bodegas or country stores (because there are more people on SNAP in rural and urban than suburban areas) to go to.

You are right. Emery is a punk and always has been. No surprise he fought a guy that didn't want to fight and continued to beat on him when he was defenseless.

When he was in Ottawa he once challenged a 60 year old man to a fight in a fit of road rage. This was after he followed the guy for miles in his car.

He was run out of Ottawa for being a druggy and a punk. He's been given 2nd and 3rd chances to play in the NHL and supposedly has cleaned up some of his off-ice issues. But he will always be a punk and he proved it again last night.

- maaddmike

yeah and you hated him when he was carrying the sens to the conference finals too, i bet

You guys know how poopty you're feeling with your team screwing up and as a fan all you can do is watch the train wreck, imagine that feeling for 7+ years in a row and that's how we feel in Edmonton so it could always be worse. Have a nice day

I don't think his contract will prevent him from being traded.
- JAKEw1234

Other than maybe Buf, I can't think of another team that would take on 8+ mil a season for 8 years for someone playing as poorly as he has. That's a really bad contract at the moment

When you play like they did last night, you are telling the world that you do not respect your coach, your management.

You are telling the world that you do not want to be here.

To me, the Flyers should help some guys out with that.

I had no problem with Downie's fight in the middle of the second period (other than that he got injured). Didn't really see much a point to the brawl in the third period of a 7-0 game. Sure, it felt good for a few minutes, but in the end what did it accomplish? They still suck. They still got blown out and embarrassed. They lost their best player to injury. What message did they send? Do you think that brawl intimidated anyone? Did it make the Flyers feel better about themselves? Is Washington going to be afraid of playing the Flyers again?
- Dkos

If I had been bleed with a crystal ball, I would have told Vinny and Downie not to fight right then and there.

However, fighting brings teams together. Flyers need that emotion to play their game. They always have.

Pottsie? Hate that non-flyer fans are the only ones getting grief for being immature and contributing nothing to the discussion, when there's plenty of Flyers fans doing their best to hurl lame insults and destroy any chance of a reasoned discussion.
- schiefer466

Apparently friendless, Pottsie didn't realize that when he enters a room where he knows no one, those who know each other will band together to defend themselves against behavior they reasonably expect and accept from each other. That concept, when applied in the internet world, is the origin of troll-resenting behavior. The average moderator, understanding this, will try to eliminate the trolls while damping the more outrageous behavior of the drunk friends at the party.

I don't think you make a decision on not taking him because of his performance over 12 games. If this ends up being the worst season of his career, that's something.

Just let Claude do his thing, he will be fine.

The Flyers overrated Richards/Carter, expecting them to be superstars. Dont alienate Giroux, the kid has game.

Tye McGinn recalled, as pretty much everybody expected.

This time, I hope he stays and other guys go.

Of course, I didn't think he should've got sent back last time, but hey, we've only gotten worked twice since then.

I don't mind having a skill player or two who is also physical and willing to drop them when tempers rise (Simmonds and McGinn are two such), but I have no patience for guys who have gotten to the NHL pretty much solely on their fists. They should never rise past their HOCKEY skills to the best league in the world. And my fear if the league foolishly expands again, is that there will be even more of the troglodytes.

When me and my wife were on food stamps, we were getting 550/mnth and had a tough time spending all of it. We figured that since we had it, we might as well spend it all. Just seems crazy that someone would need 500-700$ a month to live.

Once I put a budget it place for me and my wife, we were able to eat quite well for 200-250/mnth.

I don't have a garden or anything like that. Florida is too hot to spend any more time outside than I must!
