Good point, but when the guy is on his knees, turtled up, it's time to stop throwing punches.

I want my team to score goals and win games. I couldn't care less if they win a fight. The only thing fighting got us last night is 2/3 of the first line getting injured.
- Dkos

I'll ask you this since you seem to understand what's happening on the ice. Chances you guys wake up today? I expect you to come out hard. Seems like today would be a good a day as any to pick it up.

Serious question what are the chances you guys wake up today? As an outsider seems today could be a now or never type scenario. I expect you to come out hard.
- NickA

the way they handle tonight's game will tell A LOT about the team. I am very anxious to see how it goes. how they answer

One would think so, but I don't think it will happen. I think this team is gutted, they have no heart.

If they don't Homer should be done, and they should totally clean house.

The 2nd would have to be in 2015 cause Edmonton dealt the 2014 2nd in the Perron deal.

Let's go blockbuster, giroux simmonds and colburn for yakupov, the nuge and petry

Like Homer ...I would have to take some time.....ballsy though.

I don't think there is anything for them to wake up from. This is just a bad team. They can play better, but not much and not for a whole game.

Well one positive for you heading into tonight is Giroux shouldn't have to play against Zajac. Pretty sure he's out with a foot injury.

Truthfully, what is there to be afraid of in stripping this thing to the bone?

We're already 29th in a 30-team league. We are there on merit. We probably should have had a Top 5 pick last year.

We're bad. We are just bad. There is no reason to sugarcoat it, no reason to spin it. We are a bad, bad hockey team.

So if you're where we are, there are no sacred cows. You're a bad team. Identify the areas of need -- which you hopefully have already -- and try to execute trades to address them. Set your draft board and draft accordingly.

Some of the trades will work. Some won't.

But losing with this roster as it is should not happen. Put guys on waivers who have bad contracts, see who bites. Call up young players and give them experience. See who wants the veterans.

Strip it down, try to address the most obvious holes. Move on from the roster that clearly isn't good enough.

Which contracts do you identify as bad?

I agree but that could be said for a lot of games this year and they haven't. I'd like to think they come out determined, but I have serious doubts about that. So far this team hasn't shown us one reason to believe they have heart and pride.

Last night's game and tonight's game could be the turning point. If they can't answer BIG changes need to happen.

Look fighting a guy who doesn't is one thing even throwing bombs before he's ready isn't that bad. But too hit him while he's down and in the back of the head and not just once but a few times. Completely classless, that is why everyone is upset it's a scumbag move. Your going to here about it and even more if you say it's alright or "love" it. Guess you love the fact cause of Emery starting that Vinny had his face busted and won't be playing today. Did you love that?
- NickA

Did you love the fact that Scott Stevens ended people's careers because he targeted their heads?

Get off the horse.

And if they really are bad contracts, they'll clear waivers, and then what? Send them to the minors, and get a tiny little bit of cap relief?

(frank) Emery. What a greaseball. Not only jumped Holtby but pummelled him in the back of the head when he was going down. Someone should two-hand him in the hip and put him out of the league. Complete joke.

Even though were practically neighbours (Dauphin) Do you not remember the crap Cooke pulled over and over while a Penguin? Sen much worse where he should of been ejected for a season...

Not much of a chance. Perhaps they will come out with a bit more energy, but it will only be for a short period of time and without much direction. Once, as always, when they fall behind, panic and confusion will set in and the wheels will come off.

This isn't the type of thing a team can suddenly turn on like a light. They have been seemingly rudderless since last year and it's only gotten worse.

The makeup, the character, and the talent of the team needs to be reviewed by a calm unbiased eye and decisions need to be made. I'm hoping there aren't any knee jerk reactions by Homer, it would most likely be even more disastrous for this team in the long run.

You are replying to something from 14 pages ago. Also, you used the term ejected for a season.

I liked the fights, not saying how a Emery handled the fight was good, but I liked them. Hopefully it helped the team become a team.

If hextall takes over, it will be interesting to see who sees as part of the future and who is expendable. Hecksy doesn't have loyalty to anyone coming from outside f the organIzation (sorta).

Well if the choice was between fighting or winning, I'd choose winning as well.

But if the choice is between losing without a fight.. or losing with fights... i'm choosing the latter...

Agreed. I think the Flyers need more of this if they continue to suck. They're a joke of a team to play against these days. Teams have to not want to play us. At this point, teams are dieing to play us because we roll over and let them pound us.

Please show me a post where someone accuses a particular poster of being the guy responsible for bringing a player to Philly. I will help you mock and ridicule them.
