The Flyers need to be prepared to lose on just about every trade they make from here on out. It's going to take a world of hurt and might as well just get it started. Gut this whole operation

I agree, Getty what you can and rebuild like a boss

You are right. Emery is a punk and always has been. No surprise he fought a guy that didn't want to fight and continued to beat on him when he was defenseless.

When he was in Ottawa he once challenged a 60 year old man to a fight in a fit of road rage. This was after he followed the guy for miles in his car.

He was run out of Ottawa for being a druggy and a punk. He's been given 2nd and 3rd chances to play in the NHL and supposedly has cleaned up some of his off-ice issues. But he will always be a punk and he proved it again last night.

I agree...it was a cowardly move on Emery's part.

Hey I hate the Caps too. I'd love to see just about anyone on their roster get their face beat in. Just not like that. Believe me, I feel dirty taking the side of the Capitals.
- schiefer466

Cool, I'd have loved to see a better fight too, with Holtby going at it. It just happened last night that way. It happens in the game from time to time. We watch a game where guys on skates slam into each other and punch each other every now and then. And then something like this happens and people are outraged. The game lends itself to things like this. Let's not pretend there's a supreme moral high ground in hockey. This poop happens and life goes on. The people getting all bent out of shape about it are just looking for something to talk about.

Sure, if this happened every night, that would be a problem, but it doesn't, and it won't. Theses are rare instances. Bad head shots and boarding hits are far more common anyway.

I think just a 7-0 blowout would be a bit quieter. It was what Emery did that has fans of other teams a bit anti-flyer right now. A bit MORE anti-flyer is probably more accurate.
- schiefer466

I agree, if a guy didn't want to fight leave him alone. This team is garbage, big time garbage

To talk hockey. But most flyers fans here today can't even handle fellow Flyers fans criticizing what Emery did. Any attempt at logical, reasoned discussion made by fans of other teams is met with insults pulled from the pile of standard cliche insults about whatever particular fan base, or shots at someones manhood, current place of residence, and on down the line.

And really if anyone should be able to objectively look at that game last night, it should be a Pens fan. We hate both sides equally.

- schiefer466

I love what Emery did. If Holtby didn't want to fight, maybe a team mate could have stepped in to help in? Not one player even seemed to care about it.

I'm glad Emery did it. No reason to get your goalie mask knocked off in a 6-0 game.

When you play for the Flyers. In the event the team is a bunch of spineless slugs and your getting pasted by the Caps B team all over the ice. It comes from the top that the clown show needs to start to appease the season ticket holders. Something was probably said to these players to get a poop show going

Truthfully, what is there to be afraid of in stripping this thing to the bone?

We're already 29th in a 30-team league. We are there on merit. We probably should have had a Top 5 pick last year.

We're bad. We are just bad. There is no reason to sugarcoat it, no reason to spin it. We are a bad, bad hockey team.

So if you're where we are, there are no sacred cows. You're a bad team. Identify the areas of need -- which you hopefully have already -- and try to execute trades to address them. Set your draft board and draft accordingly.

Some of the trades will work. Some won't.

But losing with this roster as it is should not happen. Put guys on waivers who have bad contracts, see who bites. Call up young players and give them experience. See who wants the veterans.

Strip it down, try to address the most obvious holes. Move on from the roster that clearly isn't good enough.

And again, he's Ray Emery. He's more than capable of holding his own against a willing combatant, not just other goalies.

Good point, but when the guy is on his knees, turtled up, it's time to stop throwing punches.

I didn't see him go into turtle mode. I saw him trying to hold onto the boards to stand back up.

Agreed, but no one on his team came to his defense, either. Not blaming the team, but protect your goalie if that poop is going on.

Oh no, his mask got knocked off. What a shameful and despicable act. Maybe the Flyers need to keep guys away from their goalie. You know like a good defense tends to do. Maybe the straps should have been tighter on his mask.

also the refs were holding back some guys, and 3rd man in is frowned upon.

Look fighting a guy who doesn't is one thing even throwing bombs before he's ready isn't that bad. But too hit him while he's down and in the back of the head and not just once but a few times. Completely classless, that is why everyone is upset it's a scumbag move. Your going to here about it and even more if you say it's alright or "love" it. Guess you love the fact cause of Emery starting that Vinny had his face busted and won't be playing today. Did you love that?

Same argument can be said of the Caps needing to protect their goalie. The mask is a dumb excuse to start a fight. Caps also need to protect their goalie. No one ran over there to defend him.

No Holtby did not comply, Emery forced him into the fight by starting to throw down. He is a coward. Not saying he represents the entire team, because I've seen people taking shots at the team for his action, but I'm not impressed by him. The guy is a huge boxing fan supposedly. Boxers do not hit in the back of the head like he did.

Fun seeing all the trolls come out. Must have really fulfilling lives to be spending a Friday night blasting a team and player you don't like. Is this what you do between conversations with your online girlfriend? GET A LIFE.

It is clear to me this problem isn't on the coach it is on the players. The way they are losing shows a team in disarray. That comes down to the leaders on the team and Fraud Giroux is really failing in that area. The Chief and Homer better find out what is happening with the players and fix it. If that means getting a new C, do it. If that means trading a top player that is causing problems or not on board with Chief do it.

This team needs heart and leadership, Fraud Giroux isn't doing it. Can't pin it all on him since this has been going on for a number of years. It happened with Stevens, it happened with Lava and it happening with Chief. The Flyers need an identity and fast. If they could I trade out almost everyone, truly clean house and get rid of these worthless players that don't deserve to put on the Flyers sweater.

I want my team to score goals and win games. I couldn't care less if they win a fight. The only thing fighting got us last night is 2/3 of the first line getting injured.

Exactly. To rationalize what Emery did because his mask got knocked off, and then also claim the Caps needed to protect their goalie is ironic as it gets.

Holmgren needs to resign. Its obvious the players have little to no respect for management or directive. Bring Hextall in with a new coach from outside this organization and start establishing new order. Take away priveleges, strip the locker room down to bare bones. Take the "C" s and "A" s off everyone, what's the point of them having them? Find out who truly wants to stay in a new culture and actually work for their contract.

We've seen enough of a sample size from this group. Major changes are in order

You can't afford Giroux next year.....

But

Simmonds, Coburn ......for Yakapov and Klefboms and a 2 nd.

- landros 2

The 2nd would have to be in 2015 cause Edmonton dealt the 2014 2nd in the Perron deal.

Let's go blockbuster, giroux simmonds and colburn for yakupov, the nuge and petry
