I didn't see any of the game. Anything positive or was it a total team suck fest? I see downie is out already. Wonderful.
- funmaster18

Flyers look pretty good for most of the first period. Held Caps to one shot for about 17 minutes. Grossman coughed up the puck in his own end. Caps score on their second shot of the game. Flyers give up. Caps score a bunch of goals in the second. Downie, apparently the only Flyer upset with the way things were going, has a fight in the second gets a concussion. Simmonds finally remembers what his job is in the third and gets in a fight and insights a brawl. Our best player, Vinny, gets his face broken. Emery skates the length of the ice and punches Holtby in the back of the head.

Like I said, I get why some are upset about Emery. I am ok with it because I liked that he showed some emotion. that second period was disturbing. the way they laid down at the sign of adversity is alarming to me. How they come out tonight will say a lot about the players on the team.

People act like holtby was blindsided. He saw emery coming a mile away and went into a turtle shell

That's pretty much it, for all those who didn't see that debacle.

Funny I don't see you taking hockey here very often good timing. I'm sure holtby is in a lake of tears about how emery stripped his manhood away last night. Seriously no one will remember this after next week. Was it against "the code"? Probably, but people are acting like emery murder holtby and his family. The guy stayed in te game as complete a shut out.
- funmaster18

The lack of an injury doesn't excuse his actions. As a reference see Kaleta's recent suspension. It was against "the code" in many ways. Showing some emotion and pride makes plenty of sense and is commendable. The way he did it, is not. He's Ray Emery for god's sake, he could have beat the crap out of one of the 5 skaters on the ice, he didn't need to attack an unwilling combatant, and repeatedly punch him in the back of the head when he went down.

2 trade options between oilers and flyers.

1, giroux, simmonds and colburn for gagner, eberle smid and a first(which could be 1)

2, giroux, voracek and colburn for ganger, yakupov, petry and a first.

Thoughts? Or am I on drugs.

Tonight's the night.. If they mess up again expect the blow up button to be pushed. Frankly I think it should have been done after the carter and Richards trades

All I heards is that they won't play tonight. Report was that Downie was "rushed" to the hospital last night. Has a concussion. Are players usually rushed to the hospital for a concussion? Looked like he was bleeding near his eye.

Noone said he was blindsided. Of course he saw him coming, and had plenty of time to let him know he wanted nothing to do with it. Therein lies the start of the problem.

I understand anyone not liking it, by the fact that it's a major topic and issue is kind of joke. It's not that deep.

The Flyers need to be prepared to lose on just about every trade they make from here on out. It's going to take a world of hurt and might as well just get it started. Gut this whole operation

If Crosby can jump a defenseless guy, it can happen to anybody. Crosby actually jumped a more unsuspecting guy, at least Holtby had time to prepare. The only difference is Emery is obviousy a better fighter than Crosby.

Crosby continues to play on today, as will Emery. Both made in the heat of the moment stupid decisions that were still entertaining. I don't see why people are getting too upset about this, other than it's the Flyers.

Not suspension worthy. But I think a fine to let it be known he crossed the line would be fair.

Hey I hate the Caps too. I'd love to see just about anyone on their roster get their face beat in. Just not like that. Believe me, I feel dirty taking the side of the Capitals.

It hurts me deeply to say it, but something is seriously off with this team. If it takes a blowout tonight to start the demolition I'm all for it

That is fair. No issues with that opinion. And you have I excuse me as there was a lot of slop in these boards today. Half of what I'm saying is sarcastic, hopefully you see that. Just don't like it when after a bad flyers game the board is flooded with opposing fans who haven't said one word here before that

You are....

Emery is, and always had been, a piece of poop

- lumlums

You are right. Emery is a punk and always has been. No surprise he fought a guy that didn't want to fight and continued to beat on him when he was defenseless.

When he was in Ottawa he once challenged a 60 year old man to a fight in a fit of road rage. This was after he followed the guy for miles in his car.

He was run out of Ottawa for being a druggy and a punk. He's been given 2nd and 3rd chances to play in the NHL and supposedly has cleaned up some of his off-ice issues. But he will always be a punk and he proved it again last night.

I think just a 7-0 blowout would be a bit quieter. It was what Emery did that has fans of other teams a bit anti-flyer right now. A bit MORE anti-flyer is probably more accurate.
