Max Talbot after last night's Colorado win,"It was fun, exciting," Talbot said. "I liked the atmosphere where even though they came back 2-2 in the third, the bench was just even keel. We just didn't panic and went for it. That's the feeling of a winning team, a team that's confident, a team that plays with a little bit of a spark, and it was a good feeling." - flyer_nutter
In the entire history of hockey, there has never been a single sentence uttered in a post-game interview that should be taken seriously.
I get that Flyers fans are looking for answers, but you won't find them in Talbot's comments. They mean nothing. |

Whaatt?!?! Is Patrik Elias hurt?
Because if he plays tonight, there's no way he's not getting at least one. - AllInForFlyers

I have 3 Giroux jersey's, so I'm not quitting on him. But I put the Flyers ahead of any player. If I had to choose between winning without him, or losing with him, i'm choosing to win without him.
Not saying that is what's going on... just my 2 cents on it. - Flyersgod
I'm sure he'd love to hear that. |

any idea what that price tag is and when it becomes reasonable? they owe him nearly $80 million over the next 6 years (salary and deferred signing bonus) and they may entertain a trade to get into a better financial position. getting jones (and seeing him play at a high level already) makes this more likely, not less.
not saying he gets traded or we get him but the money is no joke to a small market team - hogweed
They're fine financially. Attendance and ticket prices keep increasing, and the new CBA and expanded revenue sharing makes them that much more stable.
Poile isn't about to have paid all that money, went through all that hassle without reaping some of the reward of paying him a reasonable amount with a less burdensome cap hit, unless he is blown away by an offer. But to pay what he has so far without getting any of those cheaper years seems less likely, especially for a smaller market.
Weber gets between 12-14 million per for the first 6 years. Then it drops to 6 for a few, then 3, then 1. We're in year 2. They paid him more than 13 million for a half season, and another 13 million this summer. They owe him about 800k for the rest of this season. So maybe, MAYBE he can be had some offseason before the next chunk of signing bonus kicks in, but as soon as that check is written he's locked in until the next offseason.
And Jones has been great, for an 18 year old defensemen. Not great overall, but for an 18 year old defensemen. He's still far from being the guy on that blue line. Perhaps once Jones has matured into the guy who is helping to develop new guys. |

Ha! True -- Elias has been pumping us for so long, you'd think I'd be numb to it by now, but every time still feels like the very first time

I'm just wondering where the ½ of the fans are who hate Giroux right now. Everyone, including him, is disappointed with his play. But I don't think there is close to a majority who find him solely or even mostly responsible for this mess. And many of us still wonder if he was rushed back from surgery because it is unlike him to be this bad at faceoffs and we wonder if the hand isn't healed. - bodiva88
i love giroux and i think he'll be ok; when? that is the question. right now, if they could land weber for him, i'd have a hard time saying i didn't like it |

It will take time with him, and more so with the team in general.
I think us fans have to be ready for a really hard season, and probably a couple more. They will return, but it will take time.
There is no quick fix here. |

Im one of the few in here who thought Giroux wasn't worth 8 plus million a season. Right now his contract scares the crap out of me and it hast even started yet.
The way the Flyers have been signing certain players to mutually good contracts over the past few years, Carter, JVR, Richards, Simmonds, Couturier, Lecavalier, even Hartnell......I was convinced the Flyers knew this as well and would get Giroux locked up at a cap hit of High 5's, low 6's for the max years.
He needs to get his ass in gear. He is going to be getting paid like an elite player and right now he doesn't even look like he is a good player. He got the huge contract, he got the "c". It starts with him. If he doesn't live up to the expectations that go with being paid the max contract, the Flyers are screwed....for years to come.

He's really has messed up eh? Amazing to think a few years ago this team was a cup contender. Well i'm not underestimating you maybe it's cause I haven't seen them play but i expect tonight they show some heart. How could you not? - NickA
Because they haven't shown enough of that at all this year, I'm afraid it would take nothing short of a wizard at this point...

Last night was nuts on so many levels
Downie getting owned and hurt
Team quitting after the first goal
Vinny getting hurt
Emery vs Holtby
Its all bizarre, but as an aside, if another goalie came down to Mason and started beating the heck out of him, I have a hard time thinking that there wouldn't be a Flyer to jump in there and protect his keeper, penalty or suspension be damned, thats your goalie |

those numbers are salary only. when you include the bonus it jumps up to like $20mil for the next 3 years and $16mil for the following 3. |

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie now
So, to recap: PHI loses 7-0; Lecavalier sidelined; Downie still apparently in hospital; -ve reaction to Emery fight. That's a bad night.

Nope
http://www.broadstreethoc...-details-flyers-predators
First 4 years is 1 million salary, 13 signing bonus. Then up to 4 in salary and 8 in bonus. And with the new CBA and roll back, the salary is a bit less, bonus stays the same. |
