Serious question what are the chances you guys wake up today? As an outsider seems today could be a now or never type scenario. I expect you to come out hard. - NickA
don't worry, tonight it's back to hard-fought, well-played, disciplined 2-1 loss. jagr and zubrus with the goals |

Just let Claude do his thing, he will be fine.
The Flyers overrated Richards/Carter, expecting them to be superstars. Dont alienate Giroux, the kid has game. - flyer_nutter
Hell the best thing for him may be for guys to start pulling off acts worse than what Emery did. Make that stuff the discussion and people will lose sight of Giroux's play a bit. Same misdirection tactic Tortorella perfected in NY. |

Sorry what were his comments? - JAKEw1234
From the Avs blog here...
"It was fun, exciting," Talbot said. "I liked the atmosphere where even though they came back 2-2 in the third, the bench was just even keel. We just didn't panic and went for it. That's the feeling of a winning team, a team that's confident, a team that plays with a little bit of a spark, and it was a good feeling."

When you play like they did last night, you are telling the world that you do not respect your coach, your management.
You are telling the world that you do not want to be here.
To me, the Flyers should help some guys out with that. - AllInForFlyers

Whaatt?!?! Is Patrik Elias hurt?
Because if he plays tonight, there's no way he's not getting at least one. |

New FlyerBuzz podcast added to the blog. The podcast title is "Handling Adversity" because that is exactly what the Flyers did not do last night -- and, really, have done all this season or last season -- while the game was still manageable.
That failure to compete and inability to stop the bleeding and turn around momentum is the exact opposite of what winning teams do. If you saw Max Talbot's quote in Rick Sadowski's Avs blog today, it is something that speaks directly to the heart of what's wrong with Talbot's now-former team.

He's not trolling someone else's forum. He's letting off steam in his own.
Not exactly a subtle distinction. - bodiva88
Except this isn't a Flyers forum. There are plenty of those around the internet, but this isn't one. Hockeybuzz is a blog site/forum for fans from all different teams. This particular blog happened to be about the Flyers, but that doesn't make the rules for Flyers fans different. Maybe you should ask Ek, but I'm pretty sure you aren't supposed to moderate personal attacks in the comment section based on what team tag someone happens to have at the moment. |

Right there with you. With some of these younger kinds, guys like Simmonds, bSchenn and Coots, I dont throw them away.
At this point though with some of the veterans, I would be open to trading them just to change the rotting culture. Not sure you have many takers though. Holmgren has loved to give out stupid contracts. |

So how do we get that? Do we bring in certain players? Does the coach need to instill it? |

Tye McGinn recalled, as pretty much everybody expected.
This time, I hope he stays and other guys go.
Of course, I didn't think he should've got sent back last time, but hey, we've only gotten worked twice since then. - AllInForFlyers
Agreed. He'll score 3-4 more goals, lead the team in goals, then get sent back down to the AHL when others get healthy. Not sure why they keep doing that to him. |

Trust me, the way they quit reflects so poorly on their character, there are only a few players who I honestly look at on this roster right now who shouldn't be ashamed of what they've been doing.
It's one thing to lose. It's another thing entirely to do what they've done, to Peter Laviolette, Craig Berube, themselves.

This thread is in the Flyers section of the Hockey Buzz community. Everyone is welcome to post here. No one is welcome to come into a concentration of a team's fans (and I'm sure the Blues area is the same) and pile on. If you disagree with the way this forum on this site (see the distinction there) is being moderated, you are welcome to not post here. You may wish to read the code of conduct (which I was asked to write for Ek), which frequently mentions moderator discretion.
And if you were here early in the morning, you would know that I spent time supporting the nontrollish posting of people from a rather hated fanbase. Don't pretend to be naive and think your fan affiliation does not affect how you are perceived (or what your motives are) depending on where and when you are posting on the site. |

You are right. Emery is a punk and always has been. No surprise he fought a guy that didn't want to fight and continued to beat on him when he was defenseless.
When he was in Ottawa he once challenged a 60 year old man to a fight in a fit of road rage. This was after he followed the guy for miles in his car.
He was run out of Ottawa for being a druggy and a punk. He's been given 2nd and 3rd chances to play in the NHL and supposedly has cleaned up some of his off-ice issues. But he will always be a punk and he proved it again last night. - maaddmike
You're comparing apples to oranges. Off-ice antics years in the past, to an on-ice line brawl last night?
Sure there were the rumours about the coke when he was here, but do you have any proof, or are you basing your judgement on rumours?
What were your thoughts when Emery took your team to the finals? How about when he fought Biron and then Peters in the same line brawl? I bet you loved him then, regardless of his coke problem.
I'm not condoning beating a guy in the back of the head when he is turtling, not at all. One line brawl and goalie beating shouldn't wash away his years of re-asserting himself as a legit NHL goalie.

Makes 2 what? Voracek is plenty good, but not top end enough to land a top 5 defensemen who has 11 years left at an increasingly affordable price tag. And half the Flyers fan base hates Giroux and his zero goals right now. He hasn't been the same since Jagr left, and also wouldn't be the centerpiece of a deal for Weber. - schiefer466
any idea what that price tag is and when it becomes reasonable? they owe him nearly $80 million over the next 6 years (salary and deferred signing bonus) and they may entertain a trade to get into a better financial position. getting jones (and seeing him play at a high level already) makes this more likely, not less.
not saying he gets traded or we get him but the money is no joke to a small market team |
