Than Moulson? Of course he is. How many breakaways did mm ever have?
- keaner17

Wasn't thinking of Moulson because if he was still on the team he wouldn't have been out on the ice. It was more of a general statement. I thought he was a better skater...I'm sure he'll find his stride...if not he won't get his big contract he was hoping for...

...and, once again, your favorite team proves its mastery over another by....scoring on a breakaway, with no one else on the ice.....

This team REALLY needs to sit and watch The Great Courses DVD of Defensive Hockey 101. Lesson 1: How to use the boards to get the puck out of the defensive zone.... Lesson 2: I meant the boards on YOUR side of the ice, jacka$$.....

Seriously, how do you outshoot the other team 85-10, and end up in a 4-4 tie at the end of OT? The goaltender wasn't stellar, needless to say, but imagine my surprise to see that the first goal was scored because 47 blindly passed the puck to the Ottawa player at the point...I'm just glad he only makes mistakes like that every once in a while, or else we'd be in real trouble.... They DESPERATELY need help back there, ASAP.

So strome had a 5 point night for bridgeport in a 7-1 win. Has 13 points in 8 games so far. I think it's safe to say the kid is just about ready.

well we got 2 points in a game we did deserve to win. Donovan looked great, Carkner scared the crap out of me, Martinek looks like he's practicing with the team in the middle of a game, Hickey was solid, Hamonic looked good, and AMac...well fvck I guess someone has to be awful right?

Nabby...dude...what the hell. I can see one softie, but all 4? Poulin better be in tomorrow and I sincerely hope we play as hard against Boston so he doesn't get lit up like he did against Philly (due to the lack of defense). I'd really like to see Poulin get on a roll and start a few games in a row.

**edit** for any sens fans trolling here later, that is BOLDED because we goddamn well DID deserve to win that game.

Nabby let in 4 bad goals. If we switch goalies with Ottawa tonight... we win 10 . 1!!!

jesus...that'll help the stats. I was actually wondering if he was going to break out down there or have a 50 point season and look like a third liner. 5 points in a game is an excellent start. Now go score more Ryan.

Vanek is a better skater than THAT....he's just a guy who comes straight in and picks a corner in the shootout, like Tambellini used to do, as opposed to making a bunch of moves like Frans. When you don't have anyone chasing you, and that's what you're going to do ANYWAY, there's no need to skate 25 MPH toward the goalie...only bad things can happen....especially if he's playing in our building, on the un-frozen pond....

You saw what we traded for in period two....that was a top shelf pass, right there.

here's the thing that pissed me off most tonight. Earlier today I download the Islanders app for my galaxy s3. I'm watching the first period on about 2 minute tape delay. My phone goes off. I check it, expecting a text (keep in mind it's 2 mins left in the first, still 0-0 on my delayed feed)

goddamn app messaged me to say end of the 1st, ottawa 2-0

UNINSTALLED MOFO.

Yeah, they DID, but had they lost, it would have been because THEY f***ed up on defense, as usual....

all four goals were soft. I'd blame the defense on one, maybe two, but Nabby was absolute garbage tonight.

Nice! I'm worried with how Bridge has looked this year. I thought it would be a strong year for them? I'm not sure of the Bridge coach. Then again, I'm not sure about the Isles coach either.

I'll give you two, Jim...especially the one they reviewed....have to cover that puck with your glove....but the first one was on MacDonald, as usual, and the one where four defensive players stood around and watched Ryan backhand the puck into the net was a typical video example of their standard defensive prowess.

that third one has to be on Nabby, you don't make a save standing straight up, have it hit you still standing straight up, and look around for it. You get down on the ice and scramble. Looked disinterested and sloppy. We get even average goaltending tonight and we win 4-1.

I agree that the goalie didn't have a good night- he CAN'T play every night, as we have been saying- he'll be dead by February. That said, the kid has to earn his stripes when they put him in. He can't be crap, with an .879-.885 SvPct, every time they trot him out there....we could have just kept Ricky. That also said, on the Ryan goal, SOMEONE has to push Ryan's a$$ out from in front of the net, at least by the....say, second or third rebound..

Hopefully Nabby puts it together like he did last year.

But we need Poulin to start a few games.

It would have been nice to see Poulin tonight and Nabby tomorrow.

I know the defence isn't great right now... but Nabby was poor tonight.

He is so streaky!!!!

He's going to be crap if he only plays one of every 8 games. The pattern with Poulin is to give up goals early and then settle in. The mark or a rusty goalie

Poulin has yet to lose us any points. I'm not sure how that comparison can be made since he's played a grand total of two games and neither of those losses were on him.
- keaner17

I agree, BUT....what bothered me was the goal the Flyers scored where Carkner was a worthless spectator- Poulin tends to get stuck in the down position, and can't pop from side to side well enough in that situation- he reminds me of Biron A LOT. VERY similar.

Yeah, I don't get that either- I think I'd have started the kid against Ottawa, too....and the Rangers. That'd have given Nabby a week off heading to the Boston game.

EDIT: let me just say again that's what I would have done....but at least THIS game should have been a Poulin start...
