more than ever..... - burn
It's funny that Toronto is top 5 in goals scored, and top 7 in fewest goals against (avg), but they're lucky to be winning.
So...Toronto has 16 more GF than GA, and the Canucks have 1 more GF than GA, yet we're the lucky ones....okay... |

I love the Leafs low shot game personally.. Every time they attack there's usually a good scoring chance. But the key to their success is timely goals. Who cares about shots? Maybe it's strategy to frustrate the hell out of their opponents. |

here's the way I look at it. They've been under performing. They could play better and have at times but really haven't put a full game together.
Yet they are one of the top teams in the league. I think the rest of the teams are lucky the Leafs haven't hit their stride or iced a healthy lineup yet because clearly they can score and they have top notch goaltending. Look out (frank)ers! |

For the most part, what were the lines? - systemtool
It's been a mishmash lately with so many injuries and such. Guys in and out of the lineup all the time.
Clarkson has been with Bolland and raymond against the other teams #1. |

The more you bring corsi up the more you are giving it a voice. No one cares about that poop. You don't need to bring it up every time it's wrong. |

They control their end positionally until the other team over commits. Kind of a role reversal over previous years. |

I don't really understand what you're saying...Corsi stats predicted those teams would do well this season...or that those teams have the best Corsi stats so far this season? |

Toronto also doesn't hold onto the puck long nor do they rely on the luck of shot quantity. They are a dump and chase team when entering the oppositions zone. Once inside, they look for a pass to an open player instead of just shooting it for the sake of shooting it. That's what I've noticed anyways. |

I never understood why almost everyone was picking the Sens to battle for top spot in the division and conference. What a joke it was, yet all the sheep in these threads just went along with it. That team has a junk roster outside of 4-5 players. (Karlsson, Ryan, Spezza only in my opinion. Anderson has been average outside of a few short term spurts. Wayyy over hyped.) |

True and instead of achieving low quality possession or shots they role their lines and stay fresh. The only part of their play I don't like is when they get hemmed in on repeat icings because they have collapsed for too long. |

Yeah. And we've seen some very nice passes up the middle from Rielly and Phaneuf. Leafs seem to be getting good at striping the puck in the neutral zone. Kadri and Kessel have been doing that more often. Rielly breaks up passes in the defensive zone leading to rushes the other way a lot too. God i love that kid. |

Yup.... and their goaltending last year was unsustainable considering Anderson had never before approached those numbers. Sens fans thought that it was a sure fire lock that Anderson put up the same # this year as last year. He's fallen back to his career average and it's showing with the team. |

Speaking of that, it's also led to quite a few short handed goals. What a breath of fresh air to finally have a good PK and scoring almost as much for as against.
7 power play goals against, 4 short handed goals.
Yea...we're lucky alright. Because good special teams is nothing but luck.. |

Tommy DeVito, fan of the fairy Sens, called the Leafs softer than babypoop. That was my favourite. |

Yes! forgot to mention that.
Kessel's mood lately is happier than I've ever seen him. He even had a smile on his face when Kadri slid into the end boards. The Leafs are flying high right now but i think after a bad loss it'll all come crashing down. Hopefully with the 5 days off after VAN Carlyle has them working on defense. But ideally it would be a good time to trade Gards, and somehow get rid of Ranger. Put Liles back in and Fraser should be healthy. |

Yeah it's nice to see.. I don't think the got one shorty last year. Ranger's goal was an empty net, but he put it in from the blue line. Not sure Phaneuf's aim would have been good enough. |
