true, but he and Jackman had been getting into it for a few shifts. He saw a chance to really nail him and he did.

He hit Smith though didn't he?

If they had fought earlier, this hit doesn't happen.

But ya, he should pick a better spot.

Everybody likes to hate on Ashton, but he's a lot more reliable than either McLaren or Orr. He can actually skate and forecheck, and is pretty good defensively for the role he plays.

Once everybody's healthy he's probably the 13th forward and will only play against the Wings and other teams that might severely outskate the 4th line, and definitely won't fight them.

orr i agree, ashton is better than orr at every part of hockey than fighting.

mclaren though - i like his game.

my laughy face was for the fact that he was cut by the Leafs, and is Calgary's 1C

wasn't saying he was good. but man they played the poop out of him.

- Big_Lightnin

uhh... isnt he behind both stajan and cammalerri on calgary's depth chart?

he deserves a suspension. it is exactly the crap the game needs to eliminate.
ashton is a 4th line plug who serves no purpose whatsoever.

so quick to judge

i dont want him to be suspended.. why? cause it wasnt intentional at all. if he gets suspended then the rest of his team mates move away from their physical identity and start to play softer..

and when you go down that slippery slope its real hard to climb your ass back up

yes.
which is the point.
he wouldn't hit a tough guy, he goes after smith.
cheap, rat move.
then gets another beating.
when everyone is healthy hes gone anyway. thankfully.

I guess I'm one of the few guys here who has actually liked Ashton's game this year, his ability to work the boards down low and use his body to cause havoc. He's no Leo Komarov yet, but he was a far better player in my eyes this year than he was last year or the year before imo. It was a dumb hit, and he probably shouldn't have finished it, but likewise, he knows if he doesn't finish his hits and play that type of game he's back in the AHL on the next bus. Hopefully he learns from this mistake and continues to improve.

And don't confuse what I'm saying above as me saying he might turn into a great player, I think he realizes his own ceiling, but playing hard, he can definetly find a role in this league.

ridiculous.
he hit him hard into the numbers, two feet from the boards.
it is a stupid, reckless, gutless hit.
i like tough hockey. that play was anything but tough.

Does it matter? He doesn't do much of anything anyways.

This

They're a better team without him. He's just taking up space. Can we trade him back to Tampa for Aulie??? At least people cheered for Aulie.

He told Carrie Underwood to blow Shanahan so he wouldn't get a suspension.
