Rolston really is terrible. I didn't know an NHL coach could be this bad.

I Voted for a Winner like Roy in the summer ..

Who are all contributing in some way. That is helping my point. We are getting the secondary peices in place along with a solid defensive foundation. Next step in that top pick player
- sbroads24

And my point is all those contributing players have got them one playoff series appearance in four years, of which they won only 2 games because they happened to face a goaltender that couldn't get out of his own way. That is, and absolutely should be, unacceptable by any standard.

This is the best way. It has to be done right though. Is Darcy the guy? No, but I will let him draft Sam Reinhart
- sbroads24

Sam Reinhart will probably be very good. I doubt he will be a player worth building a team around.

I always thought coaches were sort of figure head types. I thought they only had little influence on the outcome of games. I was wrong.

We literally have a blow up doll for a head coach.

And the only pieces of those years still left are Staff, Kaleta, Miller, Ennis......what other underachieving (besides Ryan) softies (besides Kaleta) are left from the old regimes?

They can all look for work elsewhere as far as I'm concerned, and we will suffer with or without them this year.

The issue is we have drafted defensemen and Role Players for so long. Armia could end up being an exception Grigo hasnt shown any but of hope. Girgs as much as I love him on a good team hes never going to be above the 3rd line. Larrson Ott same thing 3rd liners

For me it's refreshing to see a rebuild in effect after several years of just trying to be average.
- sbroads24

I know I'm the minority with this...
But I think Darcy is a great person for our "re-build"
Last time he did this, he put together a great group of talent... IMO a group that would've won a cup, or at the very least continued to be one of the top teams in the league...
If he didn't have his hands tied with the Briere/Drury situation,
Who knows?
Where I think he makes his mistakes, is with how he manages the NHL roster...
Kotalik over Dumont, Spacek to replace McKee, Leino to play center, etc

But I just don't get how ppl ignore that hea really good at gathering young talent?
I like how our rebuild is looking so far
Right on schedule for us to get Reinhart, and we should be in the running for McDavid next year

And no team in NHL history has done what Darcy has with acquiring 17 first & second round picks over a four year span...
And we're likely to add more with trades of Miller, and prob Moulson & Ott

Idk what else ppl want?
We're going to stink right now, no matter who our GM is

I hate bringing up politics here, but that's like saying Obama should get a 3rd term at this point.

I agree,we don't have one young potential superstar. They all fall into 3rd and 4 th line players. Barrett heisten, marek zagrapan, jiri novotny,tj Brennan, drew stafford, artem kruyokov, dmitri Kalinin, mikka noronnen, dennispersson, tyler Myers,Mikhail grigorenko all have in common,Darcy REGIERS first picks in his drafts in buffalo. He looks pretty good to me
Guys like Tavares, Stamkos, Crosby, etc don't come out every year
He doesn't grade out too far below those guys
And having two very talented brothers & his dad being a good pro for years makes me think he's going to be the real deal
Maybe he's not a "Gretzky"
But it seems like he'll be pretty darn good
I'll be very excited should we get to pick him

Pick any oganization that doesn't pick top5 and you'll see very similar results
Go look at Detroit for example

Maybe he has...
I just think this "mess" has occurred bc of Golisano/Quinn
Not bc Darcy is completely inept like most on here try to say
The guy is making GREAT deals right now to help us acquire the most possible talent
I like the direction right now
But I realize I'm in the minority

Don't get me wrong, I'll take him, but if this is the guy they decide to make the franchise player, this team will not win a cup any time soon, even in this magic 4 to 6 year window that people keep hyping. If they get Reinhart and McDavid, great. However, McDavid, if the hype is correct, is the type of player you want to build a Stanley Cup franchise around. Reinhart is a step below that. Of course, it's all potential and projections, but if they turn out to be correct, the difference between McDavid and Reinhart is the difference between being Pittsburgh/Chicago and being Edmonton/NY Islanders/Atlantapeg.

In fact, you and I both agreed that trading the #1 overall pick might be the better move.
