I make no excuses. The team had no money, a poopty arena, poor parking & concessions deals, a boatload of debt to work its way out of, and virtually zero talent in the system. They sucked hard for a number of years and made poor FA signings post-lockout. So much so that it even got their long-time GM fired that was close friends of the owner. There was nothing redeeming about those years.

You also forgot Staal at 2nd overall.

I only even bothered to interject when extremely poor knowledge of history is spouted (or as I said, an inability to count). And I only interjected on that point.

If you'd like to debate the poor decision making of the Flyers management over this long stretch, I'd be glad to do so as well. It is about to cost a 2nd GM his job because of an owner that involves himself too much in hockey operations.

If you knew anything about this thread or pasts is we question a TON of the flyers moves recently. Make no mistake we all know why this team is bad. Snider chimed in on Bryz situation for the most part thats all he was involved in recently. This team has drafted terrible recently, made some very questionable trades as well. All recipes for what we have today.

Downie has a concussion, was taken to the hospital for observation and testing.

Lecavalier suffered "facial injuries" and it's guessed that he lost some chicklets.

Neither is playing against New Jersey tomorrow

Friggin Staal.

There's a difference between "extremely poor knowledge" and hyperbolic. I knew the Pens were horrible, a non-factor, not a Stanley Cup Favorite, for a while. As for the particulars, I didn't care when addressing Oneonta, a Pens fan who whines impressively loud when any non-Pens fan steps into the Pens thread. So I shot from the hip. And unless I'm mistaken, there's no grade associated with my posts and no impact upon anything at all, so I wasn't too terribly concerned about complete accuracy.

And I would blame Iron City beer for the concession problems.

As for the Flyers, the owner and GM, I don't really care to debate it all that much because what I say has zero impact.

you're not here for hockey talk. you're here because the Flyers just played a terrible game, and are a bad, bad team right now.

you simply want to highlight how bad the Flyers are, as if us Flyer fans don't know. and you want to do this while disguising your comments as an effort to talk hockey.

you're on another team's board immediately after they suffered a horrendously embarrassing loss. you are nothing but a troll.

- FlyerGuy

I don't think all fans from other teams come into "our" thread just to troll. Some may just legitimately want to talk hockey with the people that follow the other team closely. Obviously some do just want to troll. I think each needs to be dealt with on an individual basis.

Exactly. And my post pointed out the litany of similar poor decisions that caused the Pens to be so awful for those handful of years. Honestly, as much as I HATE the Flyers, I really understand exactly what you're going through. I will readily admit that I saw bits and pieces of the Flyers game tonight and thought it was a sideshow on par with the Pens/Isles game from a few years back. And that I also admit that I'm gleeful to see the Flyers sucking this badly right now. However, I have no desire to rub it in anyones faces. In fact, as I said, I feel your pain. The Pens were in the same boat not too long ago. I merely chimed in to point out (mostly because it's a pet peeve of mine) whenever someone spouts off the "Pens sucked for a decade to get so good" crap when it was really less than 1/2 of that.

no, you're right ... not all fans of other teams come here to troll.

it's just that I'm suspicious when these guys show up immediately after an embarrassing loss.

edit: and I would add that I hate it when I see Flyer fans do the same on other team's boards.

Im a sucker for goalie fights.

I would agree the Caps tried to rub it in though by what I saw, so I dont have too much of an issue with the fights. The score, thats another story.

Which is clearly proven by his getting 48 points in a 48 game season on a horrible team.

I guess I imagine myself in their shoes. Say Chicago is just going down the toilet this year... I may not follow them closely but be curious what's going on. I find it as informative to ask fans than just read beat writers. I wouldn't want their fans jumping down my throat for asking about the team after a bad loss, so I give fans that come here the benefit of the doubt.

Only fight I had a problem with was Emery, and that's really because I'd be real f'n pissed if someone went after Mason like that. But I guess Emery was annoyed by not playing for so long and then getting thrown into the lion's den with a plastic butter knife.

I've ripped their ass for the last few weeks, so I will try to do this a little differently.

I would agree that the Flyers are in a tough spot, for a few reasons. I do think they need a new direction, probably from the very top, and that means Snider. I worry about the direction, and control he has over the team. He would be insane enough to do something like ship out Giroux. The Flyers need to re-stock, and much like the Flames, and Leafs may go through some pain. The salary cap makes it hard, and some elite talent through the draft, may be what the team needs. I'll be a fan through it all, and so be it.

My issue with him last season was there wasn't tons of, or a high level of 5v5 success. Him and Jake got a lot of PP points. But at the end of the day, points are points. I just would have liked to see more at even strength

I legitimately came here curious about what you fans though about the future of this team because it does appear changes will be coming. I guess you can believe what you want to but if you saw the comments I had posted you would see I was just simply trying to learn more about the fan base's opinions.

He was angry. I long thought that this team has no emotion, and even though Emery was somewhat reckless, I respect him for what he did.

His team did nothing for him all game, so he took matters into his own hands. I wouldnt defend it, but cant get too mad at him. We all lose our control at times. Glad to see him have that fire. Not enough of that on this crew.
