Decade? LOL.
- Oneonta Penguin

You're right, my bad, it was only 5 years in a row where you guys were bottom-feeders, and then threatened to leave the city. You should be proud.

For Shea Weber? Even your playstation would reject that trade.
- schiefer466

Really because Poile wanted BSchenn Coots and picks when the offersheet got signed and Homer balked. Welcome to last year.

Or 4 years, but hey.... who needs counting. Not like they were in the ECF in 2001 or any... whoa... never mind. They were.

Read can flat out snipe but they seem content keeping him in a more defensive role.
- hereticpride

read should be a 20 goal plyr, but we're not talking about a 30-40- goal guy we could use...then again, i could live w/ more 20-25 types if we had more puck movers like PHO does

What decade was that? 2 cups and 2 other ECF in the 90s. 2 finals 1 cup and 1 other ECF from 2000-2010. The 80s weren't a great decade but they were decent by the end and besides all those players from the 80's are retired.
- schiefer466

and your team almost moved to KC because?

Also just curious but how has Streit been for you guys? Thought it was a bad signing when it happened, curious to see how he has played.
- Rseen

He hasn't been quite as good as Clowe.

And another troll.

Sorry, I guess I meant 5 years in a row as one of the worst teams in the league must've felt like a decade.

Some combo of BSchenn, Coots, Jake and picks for Weber. Fill those holes in FA.

He has done what he is supposed to so far. Well the best he can do given how poorly everyone has played.

Islanders fans were quick to write him off. So were many Flyers fans. I've liked what I've seen so far.

I wouldn't move him, but others will disagree. I think he's a solid piece to build around, but isn't good enough to do it all by himself. With a well build team, he'll be back to form. First career crisis and some aren't willing to let him work through it.
- eayost

I was just curious, and still am considering you are saying others will disagree with you, since his extension kicks in after this season with cap hit over 8 mil and a NMC. That is a huge number for somebody who has had his fair share of struggles and inconsistent play since he's gotten more attention.

Thats tough to compare him to Clowe. I mean that guy is just a star. 5 more years at just over $4.8! You have got to be kidding me, what a bargain!

in fairness that was when both b schenn and couts (in particular) had a much higher trade value coming off stronger seasons than last year and the start to this year. The last 50 games or so have pretty much shown the league coots has zero offensive upside.

On average I think Streit will be good on a good team (playing in the offensive zone more) and mediocre/lousy at best on a lousy team (playing too much in the D-zone). He hasn't produced much on the PP, but there's 4 other guys that have to do stuff too. I think he quarterbacks the PP well enough, but I suspect if management could foresee how bad the team would be overall, they may not have made the signing. I could be wrong though, I don't know

Horrible. Consider yourself lucky.

I won't be surprised if Emery gets disciplined, and apparently Downie, after the game ended, left in an ambulance.

Oh, and G had 3 shots... Woot!

I like to rag on them, at the end of it I am a fan. I wont do so tonight.

Our situation was completely different we had a major ownership issue and went bankrupt usually when there is no money to put into the team you don't get any good players. The Flyers as an organization have money for days and spend it, but just make poor decisions.

5? The pens have missed playoffs 4 times since 90-91. Flyers, 6. Including a nice 4 year drought like pittsburgh.

You're counting a year that the team didn't even play in that 5. There was a lockout.

both are still extremely young and the whole team is playing poorly. Coots has been making some strides recently. Schenn has only recently started playing his natural position at an NHL level. Still lots of potential for the two of them. Lots of 20yr olds struggle.

I think if he was magically transplanted to an overall good team with complimentary pieces he would put up big numbers. The mix of players here this year is just awful, and while I agree he can play/be better, it's pretty tough to work through in this environment. He's still a young player to a degree and needs to work through this sort of thing. He was fine when Hartnall could score 37 goals. Hartnall now doesn't look like he can do much of anything, and I'm not so sure it's because Giroux can't get him the puck. Giroux is a playmaker. The Flyers would get more out of him if they had an actual goal scorer.

It was bad for 3 years before, and then 1 year after because the 1 sniper they signed retired in the middle of the season and their owner did too.

*edit* was mistaken on 1 year of that 3 years.
