Apparently he might have been banging Varly's girl which is why this mess is happening in the first place.

You joking or serious?

Speculation I saw on Twitter, does make sense though, especially with the timing.

If that's the case then Philly if the perfect place for him.

He's clearly not much of a wingman.

Trading Downie, who was playing well on the Avs top line, for a guy like Talbot definitely looks fishy. It's well know the Avs need D more than anything and Talbot is a downgrade at F anyway IMO.

Avs management must working feverishly on damage control.

DERRRRRRP!!!

It’s called time zones.

It’s called marketing and sponsorship dollars.

It’s called Canada’s largest market/audience, Toronto/Ontario.

It’s called PRACTICALLY THE ENTIRE COUNTRY IS EAST OF VANCOUVER and the NHL wants to maximize its audience.

Once again, Canucks fans female doging and moaning for all the wrong reasons about the “NHL’s conspiracy” and “Eastern Bias” against the Canucks.

Get a grip and realize THE ACTUAL reasons for the scheduling.

Hey ASSHAT! we know all this. Are you aware that people in this market spend money as well, because the CBC and their advertisers don't, or they don't care about marketing to this market. There are many people who work on a Sat. and don't get off work until the 1st period is over. If we wish to boycott the game we will. If the NHL want's to maximize its audience at our expense then we will boycott the advertisers on CBC, they don't believe we have money to spend anyway. So you go spend your money at Canadian Tire, I sure the hell wont.

I don't understand the deal from the Avs POV... I wouldn't trade Downie for 10 Talbots.
- DrChristianTroy

I bet this has something to do with Varlamov kidnapping that woman. Downie must be involved somehow.

Not to mention it only happens with the leafs...Montreal, Boston, Chicago heck even the Rangers all have huge fan bases too but they play at 7:00...that's why it pisses us off.

Pretty soon I'd imagine. Probably about the same time a $1M Mason Raymond passes Kesler in scoring on the season

The reality is no one has the same audience for hockey as TO. The Toronto tv market is 4th largest in North America. Only LA, NY and I think Chicago is bigger. But when you look at Hockey TV market I would say TO is by a landslide bigger. If we owned CBC we would do the same thing because at the end of the day it comes down to money. Look at how the NFL does its scheduling the Cowboys get on prime time tv a lot. Jacksonville never gets on. Its just smart business by CBC.

Shows you how wide open and soft the East is compared to the West. Mason was made for the Eastern Conference, I wish him well and hope he gets a longer term contract from someone in the East. He definitely shouldn't return to the West.

I actually crunched the numbers and its staggering what the record is east vs west. The west is winning like .680 of the games or something like that. Just ridiculous.

I agree, Talbot is basically a plug - one that perhaps brings experience but a plug nonetheless.

I have a feeling that the trade is more about trying to take the focus away from Varlamov and his devotchka-beating propensities
