For once Garth, I totally agree with you.

Shanahan got it wrong.

Best thing to do would have been get this puke outta the league for good.

He's coaching young kids ie youngest squad in NHL. In same mold as Tom Renney
- Otsegolectric

There are 16 players 24 or older. Only 4 under 21. Yes, they are young, but there are a number of vets on this team. I have no problem with the effort of the kids--it's the vets that are killing us. Therefore my previous post.

I couldn't agree more...under the present way of handing out suspensions this was fair. The question is when are these players going to respect one anothers health and life. The NHL should make it an automatic 20 games the second offense and 40 the 3rd offense and so on. Maybe when the repeat offenders are losing 25 to 50% of their pay they will learn.

No get rid of the instigator rule and let people get the sh** beat out of em for their actions!not longer suspensions... These type of hits hardly ever happened when true enforcers, did nt have to worry about being penalized

Since the league needs to rid themselves of players who go out with intent to injure, you can say goodbye to Kessel. Swing for the fences, or knees, Phildo

Totally agree.

No place in the game for talentless goons like Scott and Kessel.

Scott deserved more than 7. Give him 20 and give all the other pukes you mentioned just as many. Here's a thought. If a player averages under 5 minutes TOI a game and he gets hauled on the carpet for a cheap shot to the head kick him out of the game for good. He's obviosuly there for only one reason.

It shouldn't matter who you are or how many minutes you play. Head shots should be mandatory 5 games for everyone. I don't care if your Crosby or Kaleta, a head shot is just as serious no matter who delivers it.

Then Ryan Miller should be gone too for his stick swing at Lucic.

That's like saying if someone only makes a few bucks above the poverty line and they get arrested put them in jail for twice as much time as a wealthy person. What do they offer society? Some fans need to get a clue.

You Sir, are an idiot....., to compare the Lucic run at miller in a flat out crush of a defenseless player, to John Scott grabbing Kessel...no punches thrown at all is a completely moronic thing to say and will likely have you recommended for
Sheriff Shannies position when it opens up. kudos.

I've never believed in the dog-house mentality that pervaded Ruff's locker rooms. Calling players out in the media, by name and whatnot (a la Derek Roy). But, at this point why is it that the teenagers, given their experience level, are being the sacrificial lambs? Grigo, the sniping center has guys like Scott and Porter feeding him the puck in the 7 minutes a game he gets; he has to play better. Ristolainen playing minutes with Myers and Weber and McBain who have proven to be total liabilities this year; needs to be better. Zadorov, the main reason why we have 2 wins and not 1; needs to step it up, because we lost by one goal against Dallas. They, for the roles they theoretically should be playing, have been pretty decent considering how totally putrid the rest of the team is. Rolston is a coach who is afraid to take ownership of his roster and instead of making tough decisions or bold ones, goes the easy route and blames/benches the rookies. Yet Stafford and Foligno, Myers, McBain, Tallinder, Weber, to a certain extent Ennis, have been making boneheaded rookie mistakes all season, and he's absolutely silent on their play. Grigo is the only one I'd say you could legitimately complain about, but he's 19 and hasn't sniffed a single game in the AHL (where we all know he needs to be), and that's a whole other discussion.

I dont want a coach that alienates players by putting them in the press box to prove a point. But, Rolston isnt even faking like he's got a good reason. He is straight up flailing with the changes he makes to this roster. It's like eeny-meen-mynie-mo. Zadorov is benched because... #YOLO. If he is gonna use the press box as a learning tool, he should use it to teach those who clearly are struggling. Zadorov and Ristolainen havent been perfect, but I wouldnt accuse any of them of struggling through this year. Myers on the other hand can't get out of his own way. He could benefit from some time in the press box, and if he's too fragile for that, then I guess that's his problem. He's been given so much leeway, and an upfront payday for the player we all think he can be. He cant ( and shouldn't be allowed to) have unlimited chances because he won a Calder once. He aint the only issue, Im not scapegoating him. It's just another example of why Rolston is very bad at what he's doing right now.

Myers has been playing fine. Not overly great, but not bad at all. He seems to be getting better. Last night he actually tried hitting somebody. Im ok with his game. Tallinder, whoa. That guy should be cut.

Why are you complaining about 7 games? Shanahan did the Sabres a favour and would have done them a bigger one had the suspension been for life. Scott doesn't do anything to make the Sabres better.

I can't believe this is still being talked about.

Does Buffalo really miss Scott that much? Never knew he was such a game changer. 5 games, 7 games, 10 games..... who cares? We are talking about a 3 min a game player!!
I honestly think Garth posted this to take a few more shots and Kessel and the Leafs. His hatred clearly shows. Of course the Leafs fans are going to react and stir up an already frustrated fan base in Buffalo.

Move on guys.... move on.
