Smith hasn't been that good this year...and except for one seaon really has never been that great.

I think he may be the most overrated tender in the NHL.

Luongo
Price
Fleury
Crawford.

I think the three will come from that group.

Likely but hockey Canada likes to bring in a young guy to learn the ropes as the 3rd. I guess all these guys are pretty young.

I would tend to agree but with guys like smith and Crawford available they might go with more experience in pressure games .... I'd like to see bernier go as a 3 guy tho
- Redmile247

Still needs to prove he can do it over the long run. Problem is with the battle, neither reimer or bernier may have enough games to earn a shot.

Fixed question... are the Leafs an "elite" team? Define that as you wish...
When there is talk of cup contendors you see Kings, Hawks, Blues, Bruins, Pens...do the Leafs deserve to be on that list?

- geta02it

LOL - no, Leafs are not Elite...
But they are on on their way if they can make a couple "Right" additions to the team.

As a Flames fan, I was happy with the effort and disappointed with the results last night.

If I'm a Leafs fan this is the kind of game that would worry me though. When a team is hot and finding ways to win games like this one, games where they were outplayed and out-battled for the vast majority of the game, it's easy for bad habits to start to creep in.

It always seems like there are a few of these types of games in a row right before a good winning streak turns into a lengthy losing streak.

Now that's not necessarily going to happen to the Leafs, they've been playing good hockey for the most part, but they need to recognize that the reason they've been winning games is because of strong work ethic and relentless pressure. If they stop doing those little things, eventually the opportunistic goal scoring will start to dry up.

They're a good team though with a ton of fire-power... they just need to consistently do the little things right in order to generate those chances.

The Leafs were brutal last night.
If they play like that all the time they will lose 75% of the time.

No offense to a rebuilding Calgary team but if that's a team with finishers like Tampa, Pittsburgh, San Jose etc....that's a blowout.

agreed. I'd replace Fleury with Cam ward, who could be the most underrated goalie in the NHL.
- clark_griswold

Andrew Walker....is that you?
I know you took your man crush for Ward to Toronto.
gotta be Walker.

I saw your posts earlier and chose to stay out of it.

Best to just ignore the extremists.

Edit: That being said, I think that was likely the worst game I've seen the Leafs play all year. There has been other games they've been outshot but still been the better team.

Yeah I was at the game last night. What energy, it was crazy. I managed to get a Top Shelf ticket which got me a Gio jersey.
