Who cares. We're not talking about the wings are we.

Look, dude, the Leafs have been very opportunistic this season so far; playing like Caps from a few years ago. Theyve been good but they didn't deserve the win last night. Why can't you admit that? Why do you need other hockey market fans to acknowledge what you feel about your team.? I think you're lacking some confidence.

Leafs scored 4 goals...Calgary scored 2...Leafs DESERVED the win...that is how wins are calculated!

Like this? Whatever buddy, I know a lot about hockey, I've been playing it since I was 6 and have followed not just the Leafs but the game itself in depth for many years.

And frankly, I'm getting sick and tired of hearing that the Leafs don't deserve to win games because were getting outshot.

Leafs came in on the road, on a back-back without one of our top 3 centres, top 9 wingers and our most physical defenseman and Lupul with a banged up foot. It's also only Clarkson's 4th game as a Leaf. There's some excuses for ya.

We came out and put 4 goals on the board. Yeah, we got outshot but teams can shoot from the outside all they want, our goalies are top-notch. I don't really give two f-uckin poops about that, there's a reason why we've scored 48 goals and allowed 32. That doesn't happen by accident.

Our 4 losses are to Colorado and Chicago who are top of the league, a road loss to Columbus and a loss to Carolina on a goal that bounced off the boards went in off Bernier's foot. Leafs are a great team this year, deal with it.

F-uck sakes

Well since you've obviously been playing far longer than anyone you must be right .... I guess the leafs just have this magic formula that only great teams know .... Wonder why the hawks..sharks and other great teams having figured out this is how you play if you want to win .... Oh that's right cuz they are good teams and know how to win consistently ... They know that if you have a good goalie you can get by for stretches not playing well but come the end of the season you'll be watching more playoff hockey than playing .... Good luck floating through the leastern conference

hawks, YES. SHarks, NO. They are dinosaurs and do the same weak act every year. Dominate the start of the season and we all know they go to the second round at best. Logan Cotoure is the real deal though, that i will admit.

Big diference in Oilers game and Flames game.

Oilers played really poorly and although they had more shots, the quality scoring chances were not really there. leafs at times completely dominated and ended up with goals when the opportunities were there.

Last night, Leafs were for the most part dominated and manged to squeeze out a win thanks to their goaltending. It wasn't just the shots but the quality scoring changes that Calgary put up. IMHO as a Leaf fan, Leafs werer lucky to win last night.

I do subscribe to the saying you gotta be good to be lucky and lucky to be good...I think that applies to the Leafs (doesn't hurt they have one of the top goalie tandems in the NHL).

how do you feel about Detroit getting out shot every game BUT 3 this year badly too?
- clark_griswold

Talking to most wings fans they say the wings are not playing very well ... They have been a puck possession team for years dominating games consistently ... So I think they get a little slack for their start ... Which has them 4 points out with a game in hand ... Imagine if they were playing good

im not, nor would i ever disrespect/take the wings lightly. Im just saying they are similar to the leafs...except of course all they've done is win over the years and the leafs...well....

Good analysis....I mean there's a big difference between keeping shots to the outside and then not being able to even get the puck out of your own end on numerous occasions haha

Sharks are good .... They dominate play .... Out muscle ... Out shoot ... And they have a vezina goalie .... Think of them as the leafs but way better

Simple thinking. Just how I like my Leaf fans. Simple...not to terribly bright but, simple.

Thank you Pythagoras.

MEH - I get crucified by Leaf fans all the time for saying the obvious.
Every fan base has their crackerjacks....Just out of pure MASS of Leafs fan base it seems like there are so many more.

Anyone that doesn't think the Leafs were lucky to get out of Calgary with 2pts needs to take off their Leaf googles. Everyone in the NHL wins games they shouldn't have...

Last legs??? I would argue they have a great balance of vets and young guys.

For example: Pavelski, Couture, Vlasic, Burns, Hertl, Demers etc etc etc

This is a good post
I just want to hear leafs fans admit that although they are happy that they are winning games they want the leafs to play better ... This attitude that they know exactly what they are doing and this is their game plan is rediculous ... All I hear is the quality of chances and shots from the outside ... I'd be willing to bet last night the flames had more shots from inside then the leafs had total and a lot of those chances were created from shots from the outside resulting in lose pucks down low won by the flames constantly .... Reilly looks good tho I like him

Couture is awesome. One of the best all round players in the game IMO. The rest are solid players you named. I'm not saying they aren't good, but Thornton, Boyle, Marleau are pretty much toast.

on a sidenote, you can question the leafs being for real all you want. I just found it funny how lots of people picked OTT to make the SC finals. How the hell are they for real????

I asked myself the same question.

For the record I'm not a Leafs hater. They are one of my top teams to cheer for. They have very good goaltending, clearly solid offence. But I find them 1 dimensional. Just like the Caps (who I've cheered for long before Ovi) when the offence was contained or dried up, they couldn't find another way to win. That is my wordy for the Leafs. That said, their is plenty of season left to correct deficiencies.

I counted 3 or 4 pucks that trickled by Bernier and then the net that could have easily been goals, it happens. Calgary played a very strong game last night.

of course it's ridiculous. But it's also ridiculous that it's all luck. I go back to my original statement: Whether you think the leafs as a whole are legit, no one can deny the offense is disgusting. Give Lupul, Kessel, JVR, Kadri (not a fan of his but he's dangerous and keep going down the lineup into the top 9) half the opportunities that stajan, glencross, etc get and they'll score more. Especially when you consider who's shooting on which goalie (bernier, ramo).

Marleau is 7th in league scoring, Pavelski is a point behind him and Joe is right behind him....

If you dont think Pavelski, Burns, Hertl.....all those other guys I listed are impact players then you have lost it!!!

I agree as our D is not good (see the need to acquire Girardi at the deadline). However, big difference between us and the caps is our grit. It's the main reason we hung with Boston and punish teams like the habs.

They are missing 2 key players that help on the defensive end - Kulemin and Fraser. Also, say what you want about Bozaks offense, but he is defensively responsible. They do really need one more big shutdown dman...someone like Giordano on the Leafs would be pretty incredible! LOL

Not to mention he's still one of the fastest players in the league.
