The whole "deserved to win" or "deserved to lose" thing is kind of stupid if you ask me. Short of being completely robbed by the refs, a team either does enough to win or they don't. Neither Edmonton or Calgary did enough to win, they weren't good enough. The Leafs made them pay for the mistakes they made while Reimer and Bernier kept the door shut. That's hockey. People need to stop making excuses. - Jeffmt
Maybe you should mention this to most of the Leaf faithful... |

pretty much the same team. And heard the same corsi/fenwick crap all last year. Just saying. Obviously the Ali rope a dope whatever you want to call it works for the leafs. |

Oil still outplayed them. 3 posts. Multiple other chances the Reimer stoned them.
And 2 of the Toronto goals were greasy.
Fact is Leafs continue to win while getting outplayed consistently. - Iggysbff

Like this? Whatever buddy, I know a lot about hockey, I've been playing it since I was 6 and have followed not just the Leafs but the game itself in depth for many years.
And frankly, I'm getting sick and tired of hearing that the Leafs don't deserve to win games because were getting outshot.
Leafs came in on the road, on a back-back without one of our top 3 centres, top 9 wingers and our most physical defenseman and Lupul with a banged up foot. It's also only Clarkson's 4th game as a Leaf. There's some excuses for ya.
We came out and put 4 goals on the board. Yeah, we got outshot but teams can shoot from the outside all they want, our goalies are top-notch. I don't really give two f-uckin poops about that, there's a reason why we've scored 48 goals and allowed 32. That doesn't happen by accident.
Our 4 losses are to Colorado and Chicago who are top of the league, a road loss to Columbus and a loss to Carolina on a goal that bounced off the boards went in off Bernier's foot. Leafs are a great team this year, deal with it.

I agree with most of this. You guys are GREAT at captializing on mistakes. Scary great.
Having said that, last night a ton of the 40+ shots weren't from the outside they were great scoring chances.
But like I said, doesn't matter how you win. And the Leafs are very opportunistic. |

Why wouldn't you though? They were outshot all of last season too. When is this collapse supposed to come, 70 games? 80? |

it's all luck...1967...blah blah blah...corsi...fenwick.
How good does it feel to win and shut everyone up?
On a side note, Calgary now is very similar to the situation Burke inherited in TO. You hired the right guy. I hope you guys turn it around, and Monahan is a beauty to build around. - clark_griswold
Lovin' it dude.
I don't understand why the Western teams hate us so much. I want the Western Canadian teams to do good. It's Montreal and Ottawa that I hate.
They already have some solid prospects. Burke and Feaster will continue to build this team. Just stuck in a tough division |

Thank you, that's all I've wanted to hear. It's fine to talk about the Leafs being outshot, and how they've had some good luck and great goaltending, but if you're going to do that you also have to mention the other side of it, that their forwards are earning wins. |

Yup, and teams in this league don't get 10 wins in their first 14 games just on luck.
Leafs are my second favourite team, so even though the Flames lost , it was nice to see the Leafs continue the streak. |

I'm not an obnoxious leaf fan nor am i delusional. We took our medicine for years, it's just HILLARIOUS that when the leafs win, it's luck. Other teams win and they deserve it. I get alot of people hate the leafs, we have the most fans so we have the most idiots. I never said the Flames were garbage, we all know they are rebuilding. I don't come in here to brag about the win, I come in here to argue about the 'luck'. The leafs deserve respect but the haters never will, makes it even sweeter.
Hate them all you want, but if you don't think they have a darn good team right now (with pieces to move at the dealine like a solid goalie for a shut down D) then all the power to you. The whole 'plan the parade' thing is a brutal chirp. Will we win the cup? Probably not, but we have a great young team that is definately on it's way to competing, if not competing this year and with the EAST being weak who says we can't come out of it? |

Oh thats a whole other issue. We have had the Leafs stuffed down our throats (forever). TSN always starts its broadcasts with Leafs news, every Saturday we get to see, yep the Leafs. Leafs, this, Leafs that. And you may have noticed, a few of you guys take your team a little too seriously. If you had to hear about any of the Western teams as often as we hear about the Leafs, trust me you'd get it. |

Shouldn't your issue be with TSN? They decide which teams to talk about. Why isn't all the hate directed there? |

The Ashton hit was a bad one and probably should have gotten him 5. I don't think the Clarkson hit was even worth a minor. |

With two great goalies it would take a monumental collapse for the Leafs to have this massive losing streak everyone talks about.
Getting outshot is not ideal and of course you're going to lose some games when it happens. I don't think anyone plans going 82-0 over the course of a season. I don't think anyone is claiming the Leafs are the best team in the league but a little respect would be nice.
They're a team with a totally legitimate forward core, with three lines that score, average to below average defensive play and superior goaltending.
They lead the East in goals for and are 3rd in the league in goal differential. That's going to win you some games whether you're outshot or not. |

Agreed on both... was on another site last night and one of your brethren was spouting off about it being a dive and he turned... blah, blah. I thought the board was going to explode... he quietly slipped away not to be heard from again... |

Suspend him for life and take away his jersey.
It was a marginally bad hit for sure. I don't think it deserves suspension but it still wasn't clean.
I just can't stand the kid. I would rather have anyone else take his place. |
