Please dont kill me for this. But what do you guys think about Brian Campbell? I know he is 34 with 3 years left on a huge Cap hit, but he is a number 1 d-man. I would not mind trading say Simmonds and Coburn for Campbell and FLA 1. Its going to be a good pick.....

I don't think you can have enough defensive prospects. You never know how they will pan out and are highly sought after so if you end up with too many, you can trade them for your forwards later. I'd like to see them still take a good amount of defensemen again. Though it all comes down to value at where your picking to me.

There's a very good chance that none of their current d-prospects will turn out to be NHL regulars, much less impact players... that's just the nature of the beast. Gotta keep at it.

Laughton is killing it. I don't want him moved unless it's for a guarantee top flight defenseman. I don't want him moved for a band aid or another forward.
- funmaster18

Agreed. He looks promising, a rock solid 2-way forward, and I'm looking forward to watching him play.

Exactly. I would never count on any of them making it, because you have no idea

I don't think you're getting that value (personally). I don't think they'd wanna move their best defenseman and 1st rounder for that. And for the value, I'd rather have Coburn and move Simmonds somewhere else for a young player/picks.

I may be interested if the flyers were going for it. I don't see any other reason to take on Campbell at this point in time. But thinking more, maybe not even if they o for it. Coburn has been their best defenseman of late

Not to mention Morin's ceiling has already been predestined as a #4 defenseman.

By season's end, Campbell will be 35, Kimmo 39, and Streit 36. Doesn't seem like a sustainable plan to me.

And no way FLA is giving you a likely lottery pick for Coburn and/or Simmonds.

Yup. Makes me wonder if you need both guys. I wouldn't be opposed to losing one or the other depending on the return. I don't want to trade them just to get rid of them. I don't dislike either player, just wish they had more consistency.

If forced to choose between the 2, I would say I would go with keeping Simmonds due to his age and him being a better skater

Plus I think hartnell fetches a higher return from a playoff team.

If they can actually find a taker for Hartnell, it's a no-brainer. Bad contract, plummeting production, and a NMC to boot.

Simmonds' best days are still ahead of him.

Honestly I don't know if anyone takes his contract and he also has a NMC

Yeah, I think they listed his "projected" arrival was the 16/17 season. I'd give him this year and next in juniors, give him and AHL year at 20, and maybe have him as a call-up. If things go really well this year, I have no issue with a pro tryout next season.

I keep forgetting about the length of his current deal. The NMC doesn't worry as much in the event they want to move him, though it changes the value you'll get by a lot

I know your post is sarcasm but it is amazing how many people already down on Morin. I mean, it took a year for the JVR is a bust talk after his draft
