Worked wonders when Talbot brought in Gervais. (Belch)
- flyguy12

Lol I still to this day have no idea why Gervais was picked up.

hahahahaha... the fact that you are comparing Talbot to Bergeron is hilarious...
- jak521

Yes, that's what I did. I mentioned they are both top-notch PKers which shows that I think they are the same player.

It was a momentary offensive remark that was uncalled for.
- jmatchett383

oh got it... so you are just saying, that you think its a ban-able offense, but you will do that person a solid and not ban them?

edit: but you do this to show them how u feel

I was actually good until jak521 decided to reignite me with his witty "haters gonna hate" owning of me and saying that I think Talbot and Bergeron are the same player because I said they're top-notch PKers.

Colorado thinks they're going deep in the playoffs, yet realize they've got a 20-year-old captain and the best players on their team are 25 and under -- and they've been pretty much brutal since 2009.

They need an older guy who brings what Maxime Talbot does.

The Flyers...we've still got multiple guys who went to the Stanley Cup finals in 2010. We just brought in two captains this offseason, you know?

Steve Downie is a better fit for where we are right now: A team that isn't scoring, which means you better start finding some goals. He's a very good passer, has good instincts for the game. Has has some temper issues, but he's a bit older and he manages that side of the game much, much better.

- AllInForFlyers

There's things to like about the deal, and things to not like. Lot's of facets to this and how it changes the mix. Flyers get a more talented offensive player. But let's not pretend that Downie has been an offensive stalwart in the NHL. Secondly, I read that Talbot hasn't been playing at a high level or where he was in the past. And Downie is? Let's not pretend that Downie is on top of his game. If he was, I doubt Colorado would've traded him. Downie is coming off of a major injury. We'll see how he progresses. Also the issue with the PK. FLyers are a team that takes a lot of penalties. They added a player who takes his fair share. And lost a top PK forward on the team. If the PK goes south for this team, I doubt that Downie's added offense is going to make up for that.

Downie is a player who can bring a physical edge to the forecheck,a nd can play on a scoring line and add offense. Those qualities can help the team. But again, if Giroux, Hartnell, and Voracek don't start bringing it offensively, it's not goijg to matter much.

Does Hemsky PK? Wonder if Coburn, Simmonds, Laughton, and 2nd for Yakupov and Hemsky still on the table.

The context was, as I clearly typed, a top top-notch league-wide (as opposed to on one team) PKer. I mentioned Bergeron and Kelly, who are both very good PKers. And you immediately say that I am saying that Bergeron and Talbot are the same player. And they are...in the one was I mentioned. Is that really that hard to grasp?

the edit was because I made a personal attack that would have gotten me banned. Sorry I edited it; next time, I'll just cowardly act like I never said anything and sweep it away. Would that make you happier?

Good or bad it's another retread. Just find it odd bringing downie back. He almost feels like a Rinaldo with more offensive ability. Seems redundant to have both in the line up.

I took my cheapass in-laws to the PSU/Vermont game last weekend. When I went up to get refreshments at a break my father in-law tells me he "forgot" his wallet in the car. I told him his tix were free, but @ $11 a pop for a beer he can use the water fountain. I then slurped a Molson Canadian in front of him.

I never said they were the same player. But comparing the PK skills of Talbot to Bergeron (which is exactly what you did) is totally outlandish.

Talbot is a solid PKing player, but his PK skills are not even the best on the team.

This was exactly what I meant two nights ago. Homer should not be allowed to control the team anymore. More reason to continue to lose interest in this team.
