How much longer or how many games will Stan and Co be willing to give Khabby? I'm afraid they will keep him around because they wouldn't want to embarass a vet and put him on waivers and send him down. More about politics than the better goalie getting a rightful spot - reeder16
They demoted Montador and Rusty, and that French fella, Huet. There goes that theory.... |

This organization is far too committed to winning to keep playing a guy who can't play.
I would actually give Khabby a few games in a row to see if he can get his act together and cut him if he doesn't improve. I'd rather get a few losses out of the way now, early in the season, than have this situation linger as a question mark. |

I better get JSG for the fantasy team, eh? I hope she's alright - not a real big fan of those who hit women, if that's what happened. |

I think we're selling Crow a little short here. Outside of a few softies in one of the early games he's been damn good. He's been the reason the team was able to make it to OT in many cases. All of this is coming from a team that clearly doesn't have its defensive stuff together for 60 minutes. I thought Crow was pretty darn impressive yesterday (coming in cold) and late in the Minny game. Whether he's a 6M man is certainly up for debate, but I don't think there's any doubt he's a big reason this team doesn't have more L's. |

Agreed. To me he's playing with even more confidence and he seems mentally stronger, which makes sense once you've won the Cup. I'm good with Crow. |

Thanks for raising this ? bro....been wondering about that whole episode.
It was all pretty fishy to say the least. - philco28
>I did hear Emery, myself, in an interview strongly imply that he would be moving on to a team to be the #1 there: "Crow will be getting a nice raise and will be around here for a long-time, good for him. Me, I've got a chance to be that guy elsewhere." (something like that) |

I think you're right on. Crawford's play has been more than acceptable and in fact so far this year, for the most part, I've seen him to be a much more confident netminder than he was in the past. He seems to be using his big size to his advantage more so than in the past, covering more of the net. I feel good with him between the pipes.
Khabi is a different story. He has appeared to be shaky to me in every game he's been in. Not what you expect to get from an experienced goaltender. I believe the Hawks will give him a few more opportunities to reverse the trend failing which we will see Raanta called up before Christmas.

True. Those were amnesty buyouts on this side of the lockout. And before you could bury those contracts. What do you think they can they do now aside from hoping he plays better? Not sure how it all works |

Khabby hasn't been any good. But it has been only TWO games. I'm certainly not going to rush to any judgements now.
What's more concerning is the D. Yes, Khabbi only stopped 18 of 22 shots. But those 22 shots were in less than a period and a half. That's terrible. And the worst offender is Brent Seabrook. and while it's "still early" this is coming off a sub par year last year for Seabs. He's certainly in jeapordy of missing team Canada which actually might be the best thing for him long term. But he has to remove head from rectum if the Hawks D is to be the Stanley Cup caliber it's known to be.... |

I was a little confused when they didn't decide to resign Carter Hutton who is starting for Nashville now cause Rinne is injured. Could of been the perfect backup at a 1/4 the price of Bulin. |

The buyouts happened long after they were sent down. You can still bury $925K of the contract in the AHL, if it comes to that. But I don't think the Hawks are at all concerned about embarrassing him by sending him down. There could be concerned about who replaces him, though, since Raanta has only played a few games in North America. If he continues the bed-wetting routine, I think we'll see an injury that just keeps lingering, which will allow a replacement to come up or be signed. I think the Hawks are hoping he gets better. |

He was really phuckin' good - loved watching him. He seems like one of those ultra-competitive guys that have a hard time off the ice - probably good for him to be in coaching. |

Good insight, Kabby is prone to injuries and that seems to be the trend when dealing with ageing veterans. I'm hoping he'll do everyone a favor: show some pride and hang em up if he truly can't hack it anymore. Kind of like Biron earlier this year. Any chance? |

To your original point Khabby will be given some rope...
Bowman signed him, he is a vet and bring in Raanta means spending another $855k in salary.
Toews leads & Hawks win.
What to do about Khabibulin?
Nothing now except play better defense and hope:Fox Chicago: http://bit.ly/18CkfVh
