Always like your comments and most of the time agree. But the sabermatic thing, I don't know. If it's based on stats like I think then it's not worth a shiiit. Too much home cooking from the stats guys throughout the league. And the combination of having to use computers for the stats and the speed of the game is going to compromise the accuracy. I mean how can you use a mouse and watch the game at the same time? Stats guys can't help but missing some of the action.

So save percentage is irrational? Crow being 55th in the league in PK save percentage is irrational? I maintain the fact that the PK is bad because the goalies aren't making the saves. Of the teams allowing fewer shots than the Hawks on the PK (Hawks are 9th best), all are in the top 10 in SH goals against except Calgary, whose goalies have been as bad the Hawks. Consistently throughout the last 3 years, all I cared to look at, the top 10 teams in SH shots against are in the top 10 in of SH goals allowed, there's a pretty strong correlation between not allowing shots and not allowing goals. There have been two weaknesses on the PK, Toews' faceoffs and the goalies

But it makes no sense for goalies to be playing different between the PK and 5v5. Unless they have to play deeper due to not being able to see (Highly Plausible) Its not like Crow suddenly can't glove a puck. The only other option is that the opponent is getting higher shot quality. If it looked like Crow was giving up softies on the PK, sure I'd buy in. Could he play better? Absolutely I think so, but the team needs to pick up its end of the rope too.

Slightly related, I think shot quality is one of the reasons we haven't scored more. We put a lot of shots towards the net, but we are missing the net a lot more than last year (especially killer on the PP). Not as many second chances either.

I agree, Kruger hasn't been as good. To your last point, you are correct obviously, but its more fun for me to dissect it
