Signing Emelin to a big deal is in keeping with Montreal Canadiens policy of signing Russian defensemen with torn ACLs

Oh i know, the guy just started gliding around on the ice yesterday

But atleast this deal isn't after his third knee surgery

- HuileHab

No, this deal covers his inevitable 3rd surgery...

Actually...I kid you not, someone suggested I keep the blogs plain and simple.

Last night, the Leafs played but ended up scoring enough goals and ended a long losing streak against the Flames. I thought Bernier played despite letting Matt Stajan score .

Dude you have the best blogs on this site right now, don't change them.

As a fan, it's way better to watch my team defend a lead every night than to watch them try to score a couple to tie it up...

that's not the point, I am saying keep the pressure on, sitting back every game is the worst thing to watch.

but whatever I only watched that kind of play for years, but whatever

I don't care if the leafs decide to work on controling the play better, I would much prefer to see them crash and watch all of you cry your little hearts out

but it is funny no matter what i say there are people that will argue with it because of the team under my name

Neither of which are good teams, and you scored 4 goals. any team should be able to hang out to a game easily when you have goals.
- HuileHab

agreed, but I think the issue is that when you watch the game, you don't necessarily feel the Leafs are giving up a ton of golden opportunities or the opponents have some major game play advantage.

I am honestly starting to think that the Leafs game plan to give up the shots from outside and from distance.

Also, their goalies have played well, but dont look overly tested on a lot of shots. It is not like we have Roy and Brodeur in net.

I would say the big factors have been the PK, and their ability to convert scoring opportunities. They have become a pretty good offensive team.

how many leaf games have you watched?

the leafs "sit back" from the start, they start out being down 12 shots to 3 almost every game

You find that funny? The team under your name is only about half responsible for the treatment you get in Leafs threads... the rest falls on your trolling... let's not try to pretend here

It's only funny in French... In English it's laughable... from a distance... with a touch of cringe and embarrassment through empathy

I'm going to puke at the media, "Eventually this team has a breaking point, the team can't keep winning like this"
This isn't a fluke, this is how they played last season too. I can't tell if they can't wrap around the concept of shot quality, of if they are just trying to stir the pot.

The worst part is when the Leafs have a bad run, like every single team has, the media is going to be a frenzy of I told you so's.

Thats exactly it. The majority of these shots are from the perimeter. Not dangerous shots. I would go further and say I think the Leafs and their collapsing defense is the cause for the high amount of outside shots.

In short.......... (frank) Corsi

They have scored first 9 times out of 14 I believe. Not like they're hanging back there with a thumb in their butt.

I see where all of our fans who don't seem to have a clue, (coughs honest hockey coughs,) come from. I know it's way too early but does anyone have a stat of teams who go 10-4 verses making the playoffs? Everyone is like Corsi this and Fenwik that, but lost in the shuffle is how successful we have been thus far.

Carlyle's been pretty clear over the last year or so. His defensive zone strategy is to clog the centre of the ice and the front of the net. Remember Cherry female doging and moaning last playoffs about the Leafs giving up the point shot? I dont' have any stats to show but it seems to me that teams are forced to shoot more from the point and off the boards. Seems to be working.

And the fact that Reimer and Bernier have high save % is proof fact that they are giving up lower quality scoring chances than their opponents. Unless of course we believe that these two guys have become the two best goalies in the league.
