The cap will go up so much in the next few years that his $4M cap hit will be almost meaningless, and especially when you factor in what you actually are paying him.
As a side note, he has played well.

- kingcong39

Plus if he decides to retire before the end of the contract I think Buffalo is on the hook for it.

This is a golden age to be a defenseman. If you can play a little, you're gonna get paid. And hey, when your washed up, there's a chance Ed Snider will throw money your way!

I know Streit has played well so far, Flyers fans. I was kidding...

Kinda.

One thing is for sure, Timonen can't defend without holding anymore. Lucky that was a 1 year extension.

That would be insane to take on that contract...
- whipper334

Yea, wel, the Oil need to do something if they're wanting to make the PO. Apparently something "bold" was supposed to be done by MacT et al

Not just Edmonton. According to Kypreos he said no to any Canadian team.

Tells us all what we need to about Miller...

- Iggysbff

Think about it. What if Miller does win the starting job for team USA. Then team USA wins gold (I know both are reaches) and then has to play in Canadian market

I would think that unless Ehrhoff demands a trade, he's not going anywhere. This was Pegula's prize when he first took over.

Miller has apparently declined to waive his limited NTC to go to Canada.

Apparently Miller has made it clear that he's not going to Canada (and who could blame him?)

Maybe Edmonton would try for Ehrhoff and Ott.

I could see Edmonton going for him considering their D isn't looking too good right now.

I think he'd look very good as an oiler. Considering buffalo seems to want a tear down and rebuild, edmonton has a lot to offer in return. It makes sense.

I was actually thinking about this yesterday before EK posted this, Erhoff would be perfect fit for edmonton. Edmonton should trade for him since he could be made available and buffalo is in selling mode of their vets

Miller stated that he would not accept a trade to ANY Canadian teams. But who really cares, the guy is a tool.

I'm of the party that believes Ehrhoff is one if not our best all around defensemen. You don't trade those guys at this stage of their careers. Top 2/3 D don't come around the market too often. I believe it would be a mistake for Buffalo to let him go unless the return was exemplary.

Keep the 1st round pics coming!
Also for sale... Miller, probably Ott & Moulson, Stafford & Leino if anyone wants them (haha)... Myers maybe for the right price?

Right now,
We're at 17 picks over the 1st two rounds of drafts from 2012-2015...
And it looks like we're going to be adding even more
Hopefully we draft well, although #1 overall is a no brainier the next couple seasons

Honestly Edmonton is stupid, they dont need miller or hiller or any of these old guys. They should target and do something like the leafs did or tampa bay. They should target lehner from ottawa and markstrom from the panthers. Where you could get both of those goalies with other players in a big package for guys like sam gagner to the senz and yakopov to the panthers.

Panthers other players i would target would be: versteeg(that they want to get rid of) and Gudbranson

Senz probably cowen or zibjenjad

I hear ya
But he came to Buffalo thinking he'd be on a winner
Even turned down the Isles (oops, bet he would like that decision back!)
It's quite possible he WANTS a trade & doesn't wanna waste his prime babysitting... And I wouldn't blame him or any other vet for wanting out

By the time we are comeptitive agian he will be 33-34 and his value will have decreased some. Now is the time to turn middle aged assets into future assets

As much as the Isles need a dman (Vis needs to come back too) I hope the Isles do not trade for Erhoff. He didn't want to come to the Island a few years ago, so why take him now. I honestly have enjoyed the fact that he didn't sign with the Isles b/c he thought they were terrible and instead signed with the Sabres.

It's very enjoyable not being an attractive franchise for free agents I agree

Its not always a bad thing.

Dodging the heatley, nylander bullets was a blessing in disguise.

But missing out on hossa, and pronger bolting certainly stung.

Depending in what we'dve given up for miller and him walking at seasons end, its probably not the worst thing he wont go to edm.

Always room for the Philly mention with everyone. He would be an instant upgrade over every Dman on the roster.
