Thanks for the feed back.
I realize the Sabres are having troubles. (no one knows better than an Isles fan) but I hate when a vet who chooses his team. (as a UFA) Signs a very respectable contract and then fails to give it his all because things dont work out on the ice like they envisioned. I realize it happens way to often in sports but..... That's a character issue IMO. The team is paying you 100% of your salary, you give the team 100% of your effort. Period! - SCLI
Well said. Vanek was a prime example of that this year. I hope he finds what he wants with the Isles. Too much talent to just mail it in . . . |

That definitely makes Edmonton better. It might not be quite enough for Buffalo but it's hard to say no to the Oilers' 1st right now. - Jeffmt

Ehrhoff would also be an instant upgrade in Philly but I haven't heard any rumors suggesting the Flyers have interest.
SO WHY BOTHER WRITING THAT?

Coutourier, Simmonds, Hartnell. The only forwards I would have interest in. |

Miller has apparently declined to waive his limited NTC to go to Edmonton. - 100goalseason
Not just Edmonton. According to Kypreos he said no to any Canadian team.
Tells us all what we need to about Miller... |

Exactly, which is why I have an issue with Vanek's character. He was paid a boat load of money and decided to check out because of the rebuild. These players are professionals and need to act like one! Give me their contract and to play in the worlds best hockey league and you can bet I'd give .you an honest effort every night |

I wouldn't take him. He has a huge contract for a guy who may or may not pan out. Regardless of what happens, you have to pay him like a top 4 guy and there are a lot of years left on that contract. - Jeffmt
I wish we were paying him like a top 4 guy. Aren't we paying him closer to four top guys? |

Asking price for Ehrhoff would be very high. His cap hit is only 4m and he is one of two players on the sabres this year that are not a negative +/-. He was even +6 last year despite matching with top lines and his team being awful. He's a top 2 dman at a top 4 price and locked at that price for awhile. He won't come cheap. |

I thought like 8-10 teams. 7 Canadian teams and then the math is simple.
but I really have no idea one way or another. just going off a recollection. too lazy to look |

Seemed like a pretty clear tongue in cheek stab at the people that only bash him. He knew the response.
For what it's worth, he does a pretty good job at letting jabs roll off of him. People roast the guy on his own site, but he keeps going and doesn't respond much to the douchebaggery. This seemed like a way he could poke you guys back while maintaining some level of professionalism (at what level that is you decide. He's an admitted biased flyers fan).
I read a bit from here (with a grain of salt) and there are a pretty good amount of informed posters and some decent folks in general, but like every site, it has its share of whining.
So why is it there? Doesn't seem to be about the Flyers as much as it is the complainers. I think he's having fun with you. He knows you'll be back anyway. In the end, as long as you keep coming back for more, Ek wins. |

I don't know why people always say this. the real dollars aren't generally what's important. unless maybe your phoenix or something, these owners aren't tight for money. I can promise you katz aint and would spend anything to make this team a winner I bet.
the only thing that's truly important is the cap hit and how it affects your cap structure long term.
1 million real dollars in his last year is meaningless. but that 4 mil cap hit at 38/39 years of age isn't.
it's really not the worst contract ive ever seen by any means. 4 for a dman of his caliber is great number right now. and id wager will be for another 4.
it's those last 2 or 3 id worry about - hugefemale dog77
The cap will go up so much in the next few years that his $4M cap hit will be almost meaningless, and especially when you factor in what you actually are paying him.
As a side note, he has played well. |

I don't think it's an awful cap hit at all for him. Considering what mediocre to decent blue liners are signing for, he's not a bad contract. Especially considering he can be a work horse. |
