Question- What can the Penguins do to deter Lucic from just running wild and pounding all of our star players tonight?
Glass? Not a very good option if you ask me. - nbartley9

That mindset is exactly why the Penguins were swept by the Bruins. |

Yeah but we had Murray then to deter him from crushing everybody with no accountability |

Yeah... Get the lead early, and hold the lead.
That being said, if Bylsma dresses Engelland tonight as a defensemen because he thinks that you have to be "tough" to beat the Bruins, I will put my fist through the TV.

Speed and skill don't work as well when your tenderized by a human battering ram.
To totally alter your game is one thing, to protect your stars is something else.
Tuzzo may have the best chance of being that guy tonight; if he plays. |

Yep, Blackhawks certainly struggled.
3rd lowest in major penalties last year

Oh and the Red Wings:
@GMillerTSN
From @eliassports: over the last 13 years, Detroit has been last in the league in fighting majors 10 times, second last the other 3 times.
To the bolded part:
The Penguins did drastically change their game. They actively traded for Murray and chose to play Engelland every night. They weren't the best hockey players available. |

Keep in mind too, that an October game is officiated totally different than a conference final game. Speed and skill will be more effective because there might actually be an interference call in the game. |

It's a physical game you're going to have to deal with getting hit. Crosby and Malkin certainly are used to taking abuse no matter who is in the line up. If you'll recall recent games of the past with the Bruins Kunitz, and Neal have taken Chara off his game by being physical with him. Neither certainly has the stature of Lucic. I don't think Boston's tough guys will be trying to drop the gloves with the likes of Megna. You may get a face wash or something like that but who hasn't received one of those? |

Im not talking about fighting, fighting means nothing in the playoffs. Fighting really doesn't mean much during the regular season either.
Drastically changing their game was a huge mistake and it cost us a trip to the Stanley Cup.
But having toughness and someone that can hit back is something that the Blackhawks did have on their team last season(Bolland Bickell Shaw). We currently do not, and the Wings openly wanted to get more physical hence the TooToo signing. |

Bolland, Bickell, and Shaw isnt much different than what the Pens have. Tootoo is averaging 6 minutes a game in Detroit and they are seriously regretting that signing. |

Depends on what you are looking for from that spot. I don't necessarily need a guy with a huge shot there if the other members on the unit can get it done.
I personally like his abilty to distribute up top without turning it over. Letang has shown signs that he has not improved that part of his PP makeup so far this year. - Ryan_Wilson
Typically, Martin seemingly feels no pressure when being hounded by the opposition, however on the point during PP he seems to rush when distributing.. Just my opinion
I was always a fan of the fourth forward in this position while Letang is manning the back end, but only because he has the abilitity (most of the time ) to get back in a hurry to protect against break-aways.
I would also prefer to have The PP units split between 87 & 71. |

I've wanted that for a while but with Neal and Bennett out that's not going to happen.
Plus Crosby is so good down low you can use Malkin on the half wall where he is most effective.
If the pp shot more it would be more effective, Neal shoots even when he shouldn't , that is the missing component at the moment. |

Bickell is less physical than Tanner Glass. By a lot. That has been one of the major flaws in Bickell's game. Bolland has never been overly physical. Other than when he was pestering the Sedins.
The Wings are actively trying to trade Tootoo because they want to get guys like Helm and Eaves back into the lineup. |

I was quite impressed with all 3 of those guys last year in the playoffs, when it came to physicality.
Glass yeah he is physical, but for some reason he just still doesn't do it for me.
TooToo in Det, yeah that wasn't as good as a fit as it sounded like it would be. |

exactly.
in the playoffs, we tried to play the bruins' game better than the bruins.
didn't work.
lets worry about scoring early and often.
is engelland on 4th line duty tonight...? hate this idea but if there was a night for it to work, it would be this night.
every team has a weakness... and when you say that a team is big and tough... it usually means that they are a slow team.
and keep in mind, you don't need huge guys to hurt. all it takes is dumping the puck in, chasing their defense in there, and just pound them into the boards again and again. eventually that will take a toll.
side note... not one penguins fan better boo iginla tonight. that guy represents everything that's good with hockey. |

I don't see why he's not waived if that's the case. He's nothing special as a player. Certainly does anything he's asked but there's a deficiency of talent. I'm sure there may be a team that's interested but they're better off seeing if someone claims him than trying to get something back. |

Anyone who does is foolish or is too blind to see how he was treated here. As far as PP opportunities he was done fairly. Anything but that was a joke. Ignoring years of success at a position or location on the ice and playing against the grain would make any FA consider walking. I'm glad I got to see him in a Penguins sweater. I wish he was still here but he's a great guy and competitor. I wish him luck...unless it's against us.

Slick Shero...even if it is the Q...Dea has been a nice addition to the crop of prospects.
@H_P_Hockey: #Pens forward prospect Jean-Sebastien Dea (@jsdea10) has 14 points (12G-2A) in 15 games with @HuskiesRn of the #QMJHL so far this season. |
