Yeah, I will believe that if and when it happens.

The Leafs got the best player. If it was any other team than Toronto, they would be regarded as having won the trade.

So far... the Leafs won the trade. That may change and the trade swings in Boston's favor, but it is FAR from the worst trade in history as so many people made it out to be.

- Aetherial

Agreed. Seguin might not be as good as Kessel but he still could of made the team better. But your right, the leafs won that hands down.

Yeah I wasn't really a fan of getting rid of Krueger. Frankly, if your team has been similar over the past couple of years and you've had the same GM, the same sort of leadership group and already gone through 4 coaches, it's probably not the coaches' fault. For several years, it was purely an issue of talent.

MacT's allowed to come in and clean house, but I sincerely hope they give Eakins a good 3 year ride or so to give people a chance to buy in.

- Morris

100% agree. I like what Mac t has done so far. Bringing in Ferrence was a big improvement. I just wish the sabres would take the hint and can Darcy. 15 years is too long....

I trade 8figs in the bond market daily...I know what fk..n value is kid. Keep looking...you haven't found it yet.
- JLO961

question: would you buy an extremely risky bond that has the potential for a very high return for 1.5x-2x its face value? even if there is a high chance it defaults?

from my knowledge, high risk LOWERS the value drastically, not raise it or even keep it at face value.

I know being told it gets better doesn't really do much. Losing still plain sucks.

While the Leaf fans might be hated all over the place, not like we don't get the situation.

I can't imagine this team not figuring it out eventually, but it's still a question as to when. I do wonder if the Oilers don't need to rework the team via trade. I certainly think a losing culture can come to exist especially when losing year in and year out for top picks is just accepted as perfectly ok. Tough to eventually pull the breaks and say "ok now turn around and win." Just bringing guys in who either have won or haven't been losing all the time could really help change the team's culture.

Hopefully the guys around this team. Can find a way to turn the thing around. I assume drafting near the top loses its appeal after a while.

Can anyone tell me why Petry thought he'd make J.Schultz feel better and give the puck away so (frank)ing badly on the 4th goal?

You'd probably be better off as a Flames fan. They seem to actually put in an effort

Only "so far".

I look at it as the Leafs have won the trade for 4 seasons and counting, and Kessel is only 26.

At some point, Hamilton + Seguin will be the better *package* and we see how many seasons that lasts. Honestly, it could even be this year that Seguin surpasses Kessel.

At the end of the day, I have a feeling it will be a trade that doesn't look all that bad, but was by no means a steal for the Leafs either.

Burke really won HUGE on some other trades though.

Is Petry young? (I don't know?)

Edmonton is a young team. Things are snowballing the wrong way for them right now.

I don't think this is the time to push any panic buttons and definitely not trade one of the big stars.

Its a common saying in Edmonton but time and patience is needed. Theres been too many coachs in the recent years and the team is just scrammbled and plays like a different team every night. Each game is a mystery. Once they settle in to Eakins system the team will play more consistant as they gel as a team and know where each other is on the ice. All the kids are still maturing as well and improving as the days go by so. Its all a matter of when this group comes together collectively as a team.

Thats not to say we still cant improve in other areas as well. Bishop and Bernier were two guys we missed out on. Maybe if MacT were at the helm at that time we could have snatched on of them but thats all talk of the past and when we all believed Dubnyk could be our starter. Its over 10 games in now and I dont see him taking us to the finals, let alone playoffs. Some may disagree. But if MacT wants to maje a "bold" move, Hiller, Halak and Elliot would be #1 in my books to go after.

- OilerFanFromBC

I was kind of wondering myself where the Oilers were when Dean Lombardi was trading Bernier. I am probably stating the obvious but the biggest problem with the Oilers rebuild is that it has been a passive rebuild.

It's all risk/reward. You need to have a team of credit analysts to look at everything before you lend them money.

I'm the advisor, not a trader in the pit.

p.s. if you're under 40 don't buy bonds at all. "don't fight the fed"

Answer to your question is no, if there's a chance it defaults I stay away. If the company looks attractive buy the stock, or warrants, or options, or the prefs.

Burke got lucky. If he had kept those picks he could of gotten seguin which is arguably just as good as having Kessel. It would of worked out both ways.

You think Seguin is like Kessel?

Petry's 25 and has played 170 NHL games. He probably doesn't have a ton of development left to do but he's still pretty green.

No, two different playing styles. But in terms of production they both score which is kind of what you aim for when drafting or trading.

25 170Gp. I don't think that game was as horrid as the result, but some of our bad plays that we've been making all year really hurt us against a team with accurate shooters.

The game wasn't a total loss as we were crashing the net a lot more than usual.

3 off days now. Gives the team a chance to really work on a few more things and gives fans a few days to lose their lids.

I know he is still green, but that was a play that he generally doesn't make. There was no reason for him to throw it into the slot like that.

I'm curious if we called and were told that the price would be too high so we never called again.

Something is rotten in Denmark when multiple 'blue chip' players put up two -4s in a week.
