i think the hart trophy has been abit skewed over the years.

it's turned from 'mvp' to his team, to 'best player in the league', or 'best scorer'.

Crosby is the best player in the world, but how was he even nominated last year?
they continued to win without him.

the same seems to kind of happened to the Norris trophy. it's not neccasarily the best defencemen. but the now the highest scoring dman. lame.

steen is killing this year. but is st.louis fuked without alexander steen? i doubt it.
same for Pittsburgh and Crosby?

stamkos, ovechkin and Duchene as of today

No one gives 100% every shift, every night.

ovi is lazy, but to say he took a whole half season off is just inane. His perceived laziness is really because he sucks in all other facets of the game. useless on the forecheck, useless on the backcheck...so why not float around looking for one-timers, since he obviously will never play good hockey.

how is he injury plagued? He had that one bad season getting banged up, no surgeries. Ankle and then groin in the same season.
- DDM-Coga

well sorry, hes had like 3 NHL seasons and was hurt for basically an entire season.

so yeah like 25% of his career he has been hurt.

i thought it was 2 years, but like u said it was ankel and groin same season...thats something, wouldnt you say?

So basically Crosby or somebody on a good team can't win MVP because if they were to get hurt the team would still be good?

Funny thing though..I don't think you guys would have the same record minus Crosby. Granted, you'd probably still be winning the Metro, but not in such a dominant fashion as you do with Crosby.

Proclaiming anyone else Hart winner at this point is just silly really.

On top of that, we traded Perreault for nothing right before the season because of Erat's cap hit and to squeeze in Tom Wilson. MP..who is almost a PPG with the Ducks this year so far, and like 56% on FOs. Another one of McPhee's blunders, from his horrible asset managements.

Whats the deal with kuznetsov, is he ever going to join the caps? I do like Wilson though hes a good pick

All signs point to after the end of this year's KHL season. So depending on how his team does, we may seem him as early as February. I'm not too sure how much of an impact a rookie kid from Russia is going to have at that point.

good point.

but in the truest definition of the term MOST valuable to his team..maybe not.
or at least until they nosedive without him. they hardly did at all. did they even skip a beat without him?

Colorado is fuked without Duchene. tbay is fuked without stamkos. wshington is fuked without ovie

He' a -6 because the team's even strength play sucks. His defensive game does suck. But, the two aren't really connected.

- Blackstrom2

So based on this defensive play is not part of even strength play

I think looking for an MVP after 12% of the games have been played is ridiculous. We've all seen players go on incredible scoring streaks in 10 game spans. The best players and yes the most valuable to their teams, are the guys that play at the high level and stay there throughout the entire season. I think talking league MVP until the half-way point or at least quarter pole is pointless.

As it's suppose to be - "player judged most valubale to his team" - I'd have to go with Henrik Sedin or Steven Stamkos

Given their CURRENT team's respective places in the standings.

Crosby. Makes everyone he plays with better. He was getting points last night with Tanner Glass and Jason Megna. Who? Exactly. He's also playing on the PK this year. Look at his usage chart. I bet he starts a high percentage in our own end.

This is my entire point according to this theory he can't win because Malkin plays on the second line and they have other good players. The team is obviously so much better with Crosby in the lineup but because the team won games while he was gone I guess he isn't "most valuable" even though every team in the NHL would say he's the best player and every team would pick him to build there team around.
