Agreed, you do what you can with what's at your disposal. I wonder if it's sustainable though, if he's not running these guys into the ground. Maybe that's just me being paranoid.

Yup, that has to be a legit concern. Another reason why acquiring a top 6 forward is a pressing need.

When questioned about his lack of physical play

Dustin Brown "I get more physical as the season goes on"

Daryl Sutter responds "Well, the season is going on"

- Bieksa#3

Sutter does crack me up with his smartass comments.

With what? It's not like we just need a top 6 forward, we need a 2nd line difference maker.

Isn't that why we pay Burr 4.5

Edler would be my choice (has to waive though). He's certainly not surplus to requirements but with Bieksa-Hanhuis-Edler-Garrison as our top 4 all chewing up 4.5m+ each, I think we would gain more by adding that top6er than we would lose by trading one of these guys.

Realistic suggestions have been made here. If Dallas is out of the hunt they'll likely move Whitney. Desperate teams like the Rangers or Flyers who have GM's that aren't afraid to make big moves could be open to deals.

Let's say the Stars fall out of the race. I think offering up a 2nd plus a prospect/young player could land you Whitney, just like it did with Roy. If Edler was willing to waive to go to Philly I think a Edler + pick/prospect for Voracek deal could interest Philly. Maybe Edmonton would be willing to deal Hemsky as a rental, although Mac T might still be pissed about Schneider and ask for too much.

If not, then play this season out and buyout Booth. Resign the Twins and take advantage of the cap increase/Booth buyout to sign a forward.

Nope. They pay Burr 4.5 for this:

Then we'd better add a forward and get a depth D back in the deal. I'm not comfortable with Weber or Ahlberts being the 7th guy when it counts. Edler and Bieksa are the best bets to move IMO.

Sorry, but Whitney isn't going to get us the Cup. So next year, we're down another 2nd and another prospect. I'd MUCH rather sacrifice the season when we have top 6 talent coming then fritter away more picks for players that in the end won't make a difference.

Yeah, we need a 2nd line difference maker. Not just another Roy, Booth, etc.

Ideally you'd make that move with Corrado getting a half of a season under his belt in the AHL and ready to step in to a third pairing. If I was MG I'd be open to packaging Tanev or trading Edler(NTC*).

Yeah, IMO the best plan is to play this season out and buyout Booth and go from there. I'd love too see that Edler-Voracek deal happen though.

Funny thing. I've watched it like 6 times in a row now. Pathetic. But I'll never forget it.

Yeah, the Corrado becoming 3rd pairing was assumed. Actually, it's assumed he moves up as he's needed come playoff time or down the stretch if necessary.
