That was before Welsh was on the big team. I wonder what he does now?
- VANTEL

As alright as Welsh has been, he does not remove the necessity of a 3C with some offensive ability.

Welsh will never be more than a 4th liner. He was a contract/cap dump for CAR, and they had to add a promising prospect in Dalpe to sweeten the pot.

**I'm aware of the dislike and jokes in reference to Dalpe, but anybody who follows prospects and the AHL knows that he's been excellent at every level and on the cusp of breaking into the NHL for a while**

He was the targeted player in that deal.

IMO, Richardson does not have the offensive tools to be a good 3C, and I don't expect him to keep up his scoring pace.

He's a great 3rd/4th tweener, but no contending team would be satisfied with him as a 3C.

If Welsh keeps up the solid play, one of he or Richardson can play the wing, as they've both done it in the past.

I doubt anyone's much of a fan.
- Nucker101

I honestly believe the fan base has lost patience with his quirkiness. I think they are going to start riding his ass and the boos are soon coming.

Dalpe now seems to be on the cusp of being waived after his conditioning stint.

Has Schroeder been tried on the wing for any sustained amount of time? I can't recall but it could be an option as well.
- AlexF

He was tried there for a handful of games his first full season with the Moose, in a bottom 6 role with underwhelming results.

That was before he took major strides in his defensive game with MacT, and in his off-season training. So it's not too surprising he wasn't great in a bottom 6 role.

I'd like to see him tried on the wing again, personally.

It's possible. But I think they'll do whatever they can to avoid it.

It's less of a risk of him getting picked up now than when CAR wanted to send him down, because most rosters are finalized, and any team wanting to pick him would have to send down another player potentially exposing them to waivers.

Dalpe is a good offensive player, at least at the AHL level, probably better than any the Canucks have had in years, but he has no place in the bottom 6 of an NHL team.

You really can't get a read on him based on how he was used on the Canucks.

He may end up being one of those Jason Krog-type players who can't transfer the scoring to the NHL, but he's still a good prospect, and too young to give up on.

Yup. I'm aware.

Still going to need a better 3C than Richardson if this team wants to contend this year, whether it's Schroeder or not.

His two injuries really hurt his chances.

I see. I like his D and he has some vision and passing ability so it seems natural IMO to try on him Kesler's wing to see if he can play that playmaker role. I get that he's not the top6 playmaker we're all waiting for, but given that he's on our roster now it might be worth giving him a shot. Once he get's out that cast of course...

Hope he stays with the canucks. Be nice to have a cup parade around the corner. I always said if the canucks won, I'd fly into Vancouver for the parade.

Could even let Kesler take draws and then have him shift to wing.

As well as Kesler has played with the Sedins, they need a more balanced attack.

He's looked decent so far.

Better than Sestito for sure, and seems to know his role better than Weise, so far.

Or were you referring to Richardson?

Seems like Tortorella negates that issue by playing his top line 30 mins per game.

I can't blame him when I see the forward group he has to work with. I'm sure MG's eyes have been opened.

Agreed, you do what you can with what's at your disposal. I wonder if it's sustainable though, if he's not running these guys into the ground. Maybe that's just me being paranoid.

I don't think it's really all that sustainable nor do I think there is much help coming this year unless Jensen steps up or Shinkaruk or Horvat improve enough to make a difference after the junior season is over. I just don't see much on our roster that we don't need that other teams would want.
