Looks like the return of Lecavalier woke the Flyers up from their slumber. Anyone in Fantasy who traded for the Flyers' top guys for cheap, be prepared to start singing.

Gotta say I do like Lecavalier and think he would have been worth kicking the tires on over the summer to slot in as our 2C. Not sure how many good years he has left, but he's good now.

- AlexF

I think Vancity backed out once he saw all of you guys say that I won that trade.

If someone backed out of a deal like that in my fantasy football leagues(there's money involved), he would have been killed by everyone.

Had a conversation with a bunch of flyers fans a few weeks back. They basically called homer a puppet. Said Snider makes every call. (For the record he didn't want to trade Richards. Guy looked like he was gonna cry when announcing it) anyways they said the team is built the same way for 20 yrs. Saying they are so deep at center but suck everywhere else. They mentioned trading Renberg for Gratten dispite already having Brindamour.

Interesting news on the Vanek deal.

Isles can switch the 1st to 2015 if the want (probably won't considering each draft class), and Buffalo retained some of Vanek's salary.

- Fosco

Yeah, I doubt they switch it unless they miss the playoffs.

Honestly, I think he's been a great fit there. Can he keep it up?
- Bieksa#3

He's been good.

Would still prefer the Canucks had enough depth to push him, and maybe another player currently on the third line, to the 4th.

A 4th that could play a regular shift would be great.

You guys never finalized a deal and hit "accept"?

I wouldn't have been talking about it on here then.

Maybe we should implement a gentleman's rule that nobody can ask/offer trade advice with anybody else in the pool until the deal is finalized.

But I think asking for advice on other boards or from people not in the pool is fine.

I'm gonna take some flack for this but I'll take JT over Stamkos any day. Tavaras made Brad "nobody wants me" Boyes into a nice point produced. IMO Stamkos is a modern day Brett Hull
- Bieksa#3

Uggg, don't get me started on Hull (ok, I admit it's a bit of a personal thing, though lol - i.e. I was in several classes with him in highschool (BIGGEST stoner in school - not that that's a bad thing necessarily lol). I also played some minor hockey against him at North Shore Winter Club - man, at that time he was a fat f*uck and a quintessential douchebag! despite all of that, however, he always had a wicked shot, even back then). In any event, I digress and had to vent a little so please bear with me

I did want to agree with respect to the main comment, however, and that I would also take Tavares over Stamkos, as I just feel he will be (and maybe already is) a more complete player (of course Stamkos plays a lot of wing where there are less responsibilities in terms of defense etc).

Whatever your preference is, of course, we are talking about two superstars for many years to come (note to future hockey star wannabes - lacrosse is your friend! but do NOT get me started )

Agreed. I think adding a legit top 6 forward would then bump down everyone to where they should be. Another guy I've been wanting for years that would be a great fit for Kesler or even just as a second line winger without Kesler would be Ray Whitney. Yeah, he's really old but he still puts up numbers and has lots of skill and still a good skater.

For arguments sake, lets say that the Canucks acquire him for a 2nd, Schroeder and a B level prospect.

Sedin - Sedin - Burrows
Whitney - Kesler - Kassian
Higgins- Santorelli - Hansen
Booth - Richardson - Weise/Archibald

Or

Sedin - Sedin - Kesler
Whitney - Santorelli - Burrows
Higgins - Richardson - Hansen
Booth - Welsh - Kassian

Hamhuis - Bieksa
Edler - Garrison
Stanton - Tanev

Yeah, Booth's a huge waste of cap on the 4th line, but the wingers are pretty interchangeable depending on who plays well with who and in what role, plus hot/cold streaks.

Yup.

Cept for the few games Schroeder was healthy.

- Fosco

I am not sure Torts is sold on JS size, he may decide to keep all centres as is. Canucks now have size and skill on three lines. The need as you said a playmaker for the second.

Yeah, since this is for fun it's no biggie. I had a feeling that he was having second thoughts once everyone weighed in. Apparently Yahoo wasn't letting him accept the trade or offer it back to me and the day after he said he had a change of heart.

Sorry bud, I was one of those guys making comments.

In my defense the way it was mentioned was like it was a done deal. Actually didn't Vancity think it was too but didn't realize how to accept a trade offer?

Yeah, no worries. It's just for fun anyways. Yeah, apparently Yahoo wasn't letting him accept or re-offer it that day. SMP almost traded me before the season started Hertl(who I was going to add, but Yahoo didn't have Callahan as IR eligible for some reason) and now this.

Torts had a lot of good things to say about Schroeder and put him right in the 3C spot when he got healthy.

I think that shows a decent amount of confidence, and displays that he liked what he saw in camp before Schroeder's injury.

His size will always be a concern, though. And now injuries might be, as well

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. I did get an email saying he rejected the deal and yet the offer was still there that night so I do think Yahoo was having issues.

Really like Whitney too. I actually wanted Gillis to sign him when he left PHX. I agree that Kesler could in fact be moved back to C if Whitney was distributing the puck. If DAL remain out of the playoff picture at the TDL he can likely be had for that 2nd + Schroeder.

I don't mind him in the bottom 6, he's still a better player than Weise/Sestito and we're not the Aquilini's so I have no problem with him staying in a limited role getting a big paycheck and then getting bought out next summer. And I'm gonna laugh if anyone says that we need Sestito in there instead to fight(gets his ass kicked, Kassian and Weise are good enough) or be physical(he's not much more physical than Booth at all when you watch him play closely).

Has Schroeder been tried on the wing for any sustained amount of time? I can't recall but it could be an option as well.

It would be better to leave him on LTIR and get a real 2 nd liner

We still have the cap to do it without Both on the LTIR. He and his agent would probably not be too happy with a 2 week injury being falsly labeled as season ending either.
