I just wish kadri was able to have the same chemistry bozak has with kessel. Sadly well just have to settle for what were getting out of kadri right now.
- burn

Just because they share DNA doesn't mean Bozak and Kessel have chemistry

Not if Bernier wins
Rather him against Canucks I think. More familiar.

if he gets a shutout tonight - may have to.

if not, i think reimer may just get the nod.

Phaneuf wants $7.1M a year.

Leafs have unavoidably shot themselves in the foot with contracts. Sure it doesn't feel like it but when you hand out $8M for Kessel, $5.25M for Clarkson; something's going to catch up with you. They got good value with JVR + Lupul combining for $9.5M but 42.3M locked up for next year. Franson Gardiner-RFA, Phanuef Fraser Ranger-UFA...etc..

This is a post from an Ottawa fan on another thread... Sigh.

7.1 is only a 600k increase...not that big a deal, especially if we end up losing Kulemin or Bozak or someone who has proven isn't an impact player.

Leafs won corsi last night?
- senstroll

Hmm, I was going merely off the shot totals. This is a good resource.

It looks like leafs were tied in the relatively limited FenClose, but were out-attempted by a significant margin.

the guy makes a good point that the discrepancy reflects what we'd expect about shot attempts related to score effects.

I might dive into this data to see whether the shot attempts, like the SOG, consisted more heavily of close in shots for Toronto and further out shots for Edmonton.

I'll gladly pay Phaneuf 7.1 if he plays the way he is. +3 and an assist last night.

The only problem with Kadri becoming our 1st line centre, Bozak will be on our 3rd line being paid 4.2

And $7.1m is Phaneufs first ask, as in they will negotiate down from there. He'll, add the 8th year to $50M at $3.5m and it drops the cap hit about 300k

Meh, better than being on the top line making that. And I would imagine they go Lupul-Bozak-Clarkson as 2nd line...

Re-signing Bolland during the season is a must as well. In the off season look for a new home for Bozak and Liles + the 2.5 coming off our cap for buy outs and retained salary. There's the possibility for some flexibility. I like Kulemin but if he leaves so be it, for what he brings he can be replaced.

Did you see when McLaren hit him and he went flying into the boards like he'd been hit by a car

And it wasn't a very big hit from McLaren...

They already gave that $2.5m to kessel

If they can't trade Liles they almost have to buy him out.
Sadly yes, Kulimen likely can't be resigned. Pens or caps for him I'd wager.

I expected Bolland to be a 1 yr move, but absolutely they need to keep him. Ideally they can get him to extend at similar $. Can't give him a Bozak deal...

i honestly really like mclaren for a 4th liner, hes quick, lays hits, intimidates, and will fight anyone.

he really is a lot better than orr, so if we have to put ashton in orr's spot, im more than ok with that...Orr hasnt faught since game 1 either..kinda weird.

Yeah that's true, so then you have the cap going up by what 6 or 7? I'm not worried about the Leafs cap situation and bringing Phaneuf back won't ruin it.

Jeff O'Neill‏@odognine29m
It's time to give Phil Kessel credit. He's no longer a good little player. He's a star in the league.

Tommy Beal‏@tbeal162m
@odognine2 still soft. So glad the Bruins got rid of him (H'es butt hurt on the inside)

RaYrAy‏@flamesfever3m
