Elite? I don't know. He's a superstar for sure but elite? Not yet, he still disappears for games.
I love kessel but not ready to call him elite yet. Maybe if he's consistent throughout this year.

- Fakepartofme

Tough call, he needs to hit 40 goals or 90+ points and then I'd call him elite. He might well be on his way this year.

And?
- honesthockey

Reimer's trade value is starting to go up nicely. If he can keep it going, he could garner the defensive asset that we need.

3 plays phaneuf made in or just outside the crease to get the leafs out of danger on that PP

Just wanna say I <3 Reimer
- SofaKingBored

Don't look now, but the guy who was thrown under the bus is now the starter again... It's going to be a battle all year.

I remember telling people that the situation wouldn't become clear until at least 30 games in, but they had cast him off after game 2.

Me too, but I think some fans had way to high expectations.... Some leaders were saying it was a mistake to keep Carlyle if it meant losing Eakins. Leafs made the right call there.
- burn

Until Eakins proves himself Carlyle is definitely the more valuable coach. I do wish Eakins was still the Marlies coach though. He did a hell of a job with them.

Really? And that only counts when it's not Bozak
- honesthockey

Not at all.

Don't get me wrong, I like Bozak.

But at 4.2m and as a 1C he's severely overpaid/overused.

His defensive play is good to have, but thats what you ask from your 3C, not your 1C (unless the 1C can bring it in addition to superior offensive skill, such as Toews, Datsyuk etc)...

C'mon...you know that's not true.
- Woderwick

But it's totally true.

If you ever watch Bozak on the penalty kill, 5 on 5 in his own zone, he'll sit at the top of the slot, close to blue line and take maybe 1 passing lane. He's always looking for the outlet pass, almost never down low after the face off. In the offensive zone, he goes to the net when he doesn't have to, and forgets defensive responsibility when Leafs lose possession.

I'd like him to still be there too, but he can't stay for ever.

He's been over a PPG in his past two years, and I'd be shocked if he didn't hit 90 this year.

He's a top 5 player at his position. Elite.

- Leeman4Gilmour

Top 5 at his position, ya for sure. But for me, elite is top 7 in the league! I don't see him as that yet

You'd think we'd be more circumspect about trading away goalies after the Rask debacle, but nope. We're as knee-jerk as ever.

Very good, he is the starter this game. By the end of the year he'll be our back up.

Orr tells Gadzic to F OFF... Gadzic gets big feelings and then McLaren comes over and reminds him that he's a little puppy...
